The Pacifica Foundation and Whistleblower Statement On behalf of the Board of Directors for the Pacifica Foundation, I am pleased to announce a new relationship between Pacifica and Whistleblowers, America's unsung heroes. These courageous individuals risk everything -- their freedom, reputations, livelihood, even their very lives -- all to protect the public good. I had the pleasure to attend the annual Washington Whistleblower Assembly (WWA) during our national board meeting. I was impressed by the courage and determination that many whistleblowers expressed. They are a wonderful source of engaging stories, and Pacifica intends to support and assist whistleblowers as they engage in public advocacy. I learned firsthand that a wide variety of individuals and organizations are active in the whistleblower community. Consequently, we must carefully vet the individuals who will appear on Pacifica network programs to fully protect our brand and the public perception of whistleblowers. The International Association of Whistleblowers (IAW) and he Government Accountability Project (GAP) spearheaded the Washington Whistleblower Assembly, in conjunction with the American Federation of Government Employees, Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, the International Association of Whistleblowers, the Project On Government Oversight, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, Voices for Corporate Responsibility, and International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
