In Kurdistan, there are men who want to be like King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud (Ibn Saud)- the kings who have established the most horrible system of nomadic kingdom in Arabian Peninsula.Â
They become friends with the American politicians. So they can protect them and their family's kingdom for generations to come. The oil deal between a few powerful families in the USA and royal family of King Abdul Aziz worked out well for them for over half a century now. Those who are involved with the royal Saudi families are very rich in America now. Those Americans have done very well to protect the interests of the Saudi royal family in the USA. The people of the USA did not get any benefit from that oil deal.
There are differences between Kurdish people and Saudi people then and now. The majority of Kurds have never accepted subjugation. The Kurds are free people who have always fought for their inalienable rights.
The Barzani family has a long history as liberators of the Kurdish people, which is why the majority of Kurds supported them in the past. The equations have changed since Mr. Massoud Barzani took over the leadership after his father's death.
President Massoud Barzani successfully diverted the public funds to his own account according to reports by reliable journalists from the USA and Kurdistan. His success led Mr. Jalal Talabani, his long life enemy, to follow suit in the corruption, according to, again, the reliable journalists from the USA and Kurdistan.
The USA's people interest will be well served when President Obama declines to go along with Mr. Barzani's desire because it is never going to work for him in Kurdistan.
The US Government should support free elections and rule of laws in Kurdistan and stop the support of unjust practices by Mr. Barzani and Mr. Talabani.
Times have changed. The people are much smarter than a century ago. They are not going to accept slavery. Kurdistan is surrounded by enemies of Kurds. The Kurds will join those enemies to defeat Mr. Barzani's greed as soon as the USA leaves the region.
The Kurdish people are very good friends to the USA. The question is why is the USA trying to impose an outdated and horrible nomadic system on them.
Kurdish people form a very modern society. They participated in free elections in July, 25 2009 and they defeated both Mr. Barzani and Mr. Talabani. But Mr. Barzani used intimidations, tricks, and force to win. The elections were not clean. Mr. Barzani and Mr. Talabani will only accept election outcomes when they are winning.
Mr. Barzani does not have any friends in Kurdistan except those who are paid. Even his own family is not with him any more.
In conclusion the KRG won't last one day without US support. If the USA does care about the Kurdish people then they should support free elections and the rule of law instead of an outdated nomadic Government for Kurdish people.
