Really, McCain is NOT a drooling, bumbling idiot. Yet.

It’s so very disheartening to watch the ineptitude of the Obama campaign losing the opportunity to break the stranglehold the Republicans have on the US presidency. For a while, there was hope, and yet we’re watching Obama slowly, a day at a time, throw away the only chance we’ll have to rid our country of the ideologically bankrupt, corrupt Republicans.

The response of the McCain campaign to McCain’s bumbling, fumbling, stumbling ineptitude displayed when he can’t even remember how many houses he has is a case in point. Their excuse for McCain is that, “Oh, well, it’s because he was a POW.”

Note to the Obama campaign: How about applying a little logic to this? No smear. No innuendo. No insinuation. Just the facts, ma’m.

In the one case, the McCain campaign is using McCain’s war record as a POW as the primary reason he is supremely qualified to be president. In the other case, they’re saying that exactly the same war record as a POW is what makes him so forgetful and inept that he can’t remember the most elementary things, such as how many houses he has.

Here‘s what the McCain campaign would have us believe: “Even though McCain, because he was a POW, is well on his way to being a bumbling, stumbling, confused old fool, it’s because he was a POW that makes him that way, and that makes him qualified to be president.”

Do we hear any refutation by logic applied to this totally irrational excuse? No, we don’t. And, why don’t we? It’s because the Obama campaign is allowing the Republicans to use to the greatest effect possible the very slimy, sleazy, smear tactics, the very tactics that the people of the US have said, with the election of Democrats in 2006 and the around 25% approval rating of the best example of Republicanism of all time, George Bush, that we don’t want any more, we‘ve had enough.

Obama is losing it. By his inability to grasp the single most important fact of his campaign, he‘s losing the election. That fact is that all he has to do to win the election is to just tell the truth about McCain. The truth presented by the McCain campaign. The truth about the gross contradiction of logic so evident in their excuses for McCain. That truth amounts to this:

John McCain, as everyone can see, is not a drooling, catatonic idiot. Yet. But, as the McCain campaign has helpfully confessed, his POW experience has left him with some mental deficiencies, such as not being able to remember how many houses he has, when Bush’s surge began, and where Afghanistan is. These mental deficiencies are to be expected in a man with his background, according to the McCain campaign. Those same deficiencies are not to be expected in a man who wants to be president.

These deficiencies leave him without the inability to be correctly oriented to time and location, with the inability to count to 10 in his head, to place events important to him in correct chronological order, and to correctly interpret a map.

Presidents have staff to tell them what they need to know about situations and conditions that need a knowledgeable, informed response. When the president must also be reminded what day it is, where he is and given help with first grade arithmetic, we no longer have a presidency. The White House becomes a kindergarten, instructing not inexperienced young children, but a bumbling old fool.
