Popular Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his AKP have triumphed for the third time in a row in national elections, ensuring Erdogan will remain in power for four more years while further strengthening democratic foundations in a Turkey that for decades saw military coups, good-old-boy networks and corruption as the order of the day. Erdogan is also credited with enhancing Turkish regional influence and overseeing an actually booming economy in these bankrupt times.

Breaking down the number of seats won in parliamentary elections, to quote from al Jazeera, the AKP failed to win commanding control of parliament, but came close enough to be in a very dominant position:

"The ruling AKP Party was aiming for 367 seats, for a two thirds majority to unilaterally push through a new constitution. But it secured only about 50 per cent of the vote - or 326 of the 550 seats in parliament. Its biggest opposition group is the Republican People's Party or CHP which won 135 seats. The National Movement Party or MHP captured 53 seats. And Independent candidates backed by the pro-Kurdish party picked up 36."

Following are several videos of the prime minister's triumph:

Here is an in-depth look at the AKP victory:
