Religious Right: Why Don't They Heal?

Follow Me on Twitter     Message Bob Johnson
The religious right is busy attacking the government health care plan. What people need to ask, a question which cuts to the quick of the Christian religious right, is why do we need health care, government or otherwise, when they and their holy book, the Bible, claim they have healing powers? If their Bible and preachers are correct, they can in reality heal all the sick people in the country!

Mark 16:17-18 clearly states, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Think of those words - "they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover"! There is no gray area, "they shall recover"!! We don't need government health care or private health care, all we need is Christianity! I'm not sure why the Christians have not yet started to clear out the hospitals around the world of sick people.

James 5:14-15 also offers faith-healing but it requires that you add oil. It reads, Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up;" Also, James is in contrast with Mark in that Mark says that those who believe will have the healing powers while James says it will be the elders of the church with the healing powers.

Thank goodness the Bible pretty much overwrites both of these promises of healing power when at Matthew 21:22 we read, "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." This covers EVERYTHING! So, right now, I'm going to pray to the Christian Bible god that all people are healed, and right after that I'm going to pray to win the lotto in every state! I can't wait! I just need to block-out the doubt from web pages like this one!
