Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Ukraine to use Dirty Bomb
The big news item in the last week has been talk of a "dirty bomb" being detonated in Ukraine.
A dirty bomb uses conventional explosives (TNT) but also contains radioactive nuclear waste. When detonated it creates radiation exposure to people in the area of the explosion.
The Russians are adamant the Ukrainian's are intent of detonating such a device.
However US defense officials have rejected the Russian claims with Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov saying, "This attitude, far from being serious, is unacceptable given the seriousness of the danger that we are talking about." [1]
Sergey Shoigu, the Russian Defense Minister phoned his counterparts in Britain, France, Turkey as well as the US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. He called the allegations against Ukraine "false".
Austin along with NATO Secretary General Jens Stottenberg called "Moscow's false accusation that Ukraine is preparing to use a dirty bomb on its own soil, "absurd". On Monday the foreign ministers in the US, France and UK rejected Russia's claims as "transparently false allegations".
To be sure if a dirty bomb were detonated in Ukraine Russian President Vladimir Putin will be blamed by all the western media lead by the US.
