NEWS NUGGET: Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has hired Becki Donatelli to handle her brand-spanking new Sarahpac, according to sources familiar with the move. Donatelli is the chair of Campaign Solutions, a Republican consulting firm that specializes in fundraising and Internet strategy. Donatelli was intimately involved in both of Sen. John McCain's (Ariz.) presidential bids and her work with Palin suggests that reports of the two camps' distaste for
one another might be (slightly) overblown. The hiring of Donatelli also is evidence that Palin understands she must overhaul her image among the Republican professional class in Washington if she wants to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate in 2012.
So who is Becky Donatelli? She's a player in the Bush machine's election-rigging network-- and, formerly, a sometime partner of Mike Connell's. For example, here's a 'graph from a Free Press article that came out last July:
SourceWatch notes that Connell developed the websites for the House Intelligence, Judiciary, Financial Services, Ways and Means, and Administration Committees. According to SourceWatch, Connell teamed
up with R. Rebecca Donatelli, Chair of the D.C.-based Campaign Solutions, to form Connell Donatelli Inc. (CD Inc.) as a specialized online advertising agency in July 2004. One of CD, Inc.'s first activities was to become the registrant, administrator and tech organizer for the anti-Kerry group Swiftboat Veterans for Truth's website swiftboatvetsfortruth.org.
Now, Sarah Palin may be laughable--and unelectable. As we have seen, however, those who could not ever get elected can and do end up "elected" anyway, because of busy bees like Donatelli, Connell and a lot of other partisans, working under "wizards" like Karl Rove.
So now's the moment for the Democrats to look at Donatelli, and at Connell's story, and Ohio 2004, and Florida 2000, and Alabama 2002, and George 2002, and so on; and the best way to start doing so is to USE INHERENT CONTEMPT to ask Karl Rove a lot of questions, under oath and on the record.
