"Mitt Romney was heavily involved in the extremely messy
divorce of one of his key supporters ... and the Boston Globe is going to court
first thing Wednesday morning in an attempt to unseal the court file as well as
lift a gag order ... TMZ has learned."
October Surprise. It's
usually one big obfuscating flop, but this election has been so spectacularly
riddled with gaffes, lies and accusations, it would be amazing if there were
just one planned. So far, it seems we have about 6:
The Staples Affair
Did Mitt Romney lie in court about the value of a friend's Staples
stock? In a messy divorce, Tom Stemberg, founder of Staples, had Mitt Romney
testify as to the value of Staples stock. Bain Capital had been instrumental in
establishing Staples, hence had a very big stake in it. The company, however,
had not yet gone public. Was Mitt saving his friend's financial ass by purposely
undervaluing the stock? Some time later, Staples went public at a much greater
value.
Romney lying about something/anything would certainly not be new:
some argue that his entire campaign has been a lie (check out the Costco
interview as reviewed by David Letterman). However, an alleged lie under
oath for purposes of cheating a friend's ex-wife out of million$ cannot sit
very well with even some hard-core Romney supporters.
The ENDA Of Romney's Christian Right Support
Log Cabin Republicans have come out with a "qualified"
endorsement of Mitt Romney. No big deal, except that most other gays are
furious with them (gay Republican seems to be very much the oxymoron). After
all, Mitt Romney usually sides with the Christian Right on social issues. The
alleged reason for the endorsement, however, has become a cause for the
Christian Right to be furious at Mitt: he may have told the LCR that he would
support ENDA (the controversial Employment Non-Discrimination Act - supporting
gays in the government workplace).
What we need is a flat emphatic, unambiguous denial from Romney himself. Please
clarify for us all, Governor. Bottom line: we need a clear, unambiguous, no
loophole denial from Gov. Romney that he will support ENDA as president."

Association.
We Always Knew He Was
Heartless
Mitt Romney has been a bishop in the LDS (Mormon church) for
years. A new piece about his tenure as a Massachusetts bishop titled Mitt
Romney's Heartless Advice to A Woman Whose Pregnancy Might Have Killed Her has surfaced. In it, Romney's
unfeeling entreaty for the woman not to get an abortion caused her to leave the
LDS church:
There was no empathy forthcoming from Romney, according to Sheldon, no warmth
or sympathy. Moreover, Sheldon contends, Romney cast doubt on her story about
the stake president's approval. He simply didn't believe her. He threatened to
call him and track him down. He didn't seem to care a lick about her personal
well-being.
The Three Trumps
Not to be outdone by the like of Gloria Allred (litigating in the
gag order on the Staples divorce testimonies), Donald Trump has said that he
has THE October surprise. So far, reports have come up with three
possibilities:
