Personally, this septuagenarian writer is as far from being a computer geek as he is being an astronaut.
And thankfully the focus today is not on us technology challenged greybeards.
But the focus is on the likes of Edward Snowden, the systems administrator working for private contractor Booz Allen Hamilton on a secret NSA surveillance project who was so computer competent his whistleblowing leak on the NSA's secret data mining surveillance operations is posing an existential threat to the whole NSA type surveillance edifice. This may also be wishful thinking but maybe it could come crashing down on itself in the foreseeable future.
Unlike Snowden, it appears most of the NSA surveillance operators aren't about to risk their cushy salaries to be a whistleblower to likes of a Snowden.
Yet lately we're hearing the idea that the NSA, CIA or Booz Allen type private contractor's et al can upgrade their screening procedures to discover potential whistleblowers before hiring them. That's wishful thinking and tantamount to whistling in the graveyard. It just ain't gonna happen!
Overall, these young computer geeks today are so computer technology proficient, few if any require a formal education (ala Snowden). But they are the types of people the secret surveillance outfits need for their ultra secret clandestine snooping operations.
