Support Italy's General Strike

In response to the arrogance of Minister Gelmini and the government's destruction of the entire field of public knowledge, a General Strike has been called for OCTOBER 30, 2008. All the unions have together decided to call The Strike and have planned a large national demonstration to be held in Rome.

It is the government's clear intention to weaken the function of the Federal Union. With the use of Decrees and the vote of confidence in the House on DL 137/08, their next step is an authoritarian education system and to complete the transition into a total authoritarian society.

Schools, universities and researchers are about to fall by the sword welded by Gelmini in order to become part of a failing corporate culture. All for economic treason, they will demolish the Constitutional mandate of schools being open to all. This is one of the Constitution's fundamental principles.

The many initiatives promoted by unions in the territories separately, by students and families, show a broad front of protest, which tends to expand against this government's determined regressive plan.

The general strike and national demonstration are intended to unify the broad movement; to force the government to review their choices; and to open the necessary confrontation of The People with THEIR government. This is an absolute necessity to elevate the quality of the entire system of knowledge being available to ALL, and not only the few.

VoteStrike.com is calling on citizens world-wide to support this strike by not working, shopping or going to school Oct. 30th. Thank you for your support.

Why support a strike in Italy? Multi-national corporations are taking over every government on the planet. We can cut the legs out from under America's war machine by helping remove pro- US governments throughout the world.

Do not allow corporate America to export our school system:

Whether you call it the world financial structure, the U.S. culture of waste, or the ability of the common man to make a decent living, the system is broken. It's time for the common man to go on strike. Join or support the March on Washingon (more...)
