During these thirty or so destructive days where BP's Deep Water Horizon aka the Earth destroyer oil rig exploded, one has seen the destructive force long after the flames of the rig went out.
We are now seeing images coming to us of pelicans hobbling within the marshy oil reeds trying to make flight. This will be their life due to the failure of BP and the federal government. It should be titled for all to witness, the pelican brief. I do believe that if this goes on for months to come meaning this oil volcano, pelicans in that region will have lived a brief life as well as other land and marine animals. This oil volcano will certainly have a devastating affect on the region for years and years to come. Thanks to big oil, it will certainly be that regions Waterloo.
Leaving reality aside for the moment, Hollywood has produced movies such as "Independence Day" and "Earthquake 10.0" where presidents take the lead in the wake of such devastation. So far, I have seen none of that. Today, I heard on MSBNC, where President Obama will be traveling to California to assist Senator Barbra Boxer's reelection campaign. Excuse me?! We have a disaster on our hands. I know some will not like to hear me opine that, but the images of what is happening in the Gulf incline for me to do so. Her campaign means nothing as those directly affected by this spill are affected, namely those whose livelihoods are dependent upon a healthy eco-system.
