Have you wondered why these United States along with our Constitution appear to be destined for oblivion? It is sad; however, it is not too late to correct it. We as a nation have been led to the slaughterhouse by a group of corporations who belong to the ALEC organization, which stands for American Legislative Exchange Council. This group is said to have formed in Chicago in 1973 by a group of state legislators. Like an octopus with tentacles, it spread and began inviting corporations to become a member. From this, their vision has been to be the power behind state and federal laws. Their ideology is to have laws passed that benefit corporations.
When the Supreme Court gave corporations the same rights and benefits as a human 'person', it was based on a court case as far back as 1886 -- Santa Clare County (California) vs Southern Pacific Railroad Company. The railroad argued that it was a person, however the judge did not rule on 'personhood.' Instead, he turned it over to a court reporter by the name of J.C. Bancroft Davis -- a former railroad president. Davis placed the ruling into the books giving the corporation 'personhood.' Pretty sneaky.
The ALEC organization is conservative and has definite connections to Republicans. Since 1973, the organization has been building a powerful organization and waited for the Republicans to have power in our Congress. Insidiously they have ghost-written bills in State legislatures and also in our national legislature.
Progress/Virginia's website has this to say about the invasiveness of ALEC:
- At least 50 bills introduced in the Virginia General Assembly that were drawn from ALEC model legislation
- Over $230,000 in taxpayer money spent on sending legislators on junkets to ALEC conferences to meet with corporate lobbyists behind closed doors
- Over 100 current and former legislators with ties to ALEC, including Speaker of the House of Delegates William Howell, Governor Bob McDonnell, and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli
ALEC is behind the State laws that only benefits them. It is obvious that there is a war going on against women. They want to take away the benefits of contraceptives as the insurance companies (corporations) do not want to pay for them. They are attempting to get legislation through to take away rights of women. Senator Maria Cantwell has this to say: " People want to know how something like the Violence Against Women Act -- a historically bipartisan law -- may miss its deadline to be reauthorized. This law is a crucial lifeline to help victims of domestic violence, and provides prosecutors the tools they need to convict offenders."
ALEC is also behind the Republicans to do away with Planned Parenthood. That, along with the anti-abortion laws in some states has a stigma against women. There has been a long standing anti-abortion movement alleging that an abortion kills a fetus so that is killing a life. What these 'do-gooders' ignore is that war also kills our service personnel. Little is in the news about our wounded military men who have had their legs and genitals blown off in war. These men cannot have children. No one seems to think of their wives.
Apparently the Michigan State is about to create an act that borders on the insane. The headlines read: " Insane Michigan Government Announces Plan to Destroy Ranch Livestock Based on Hair Color." This is primarily about pigs and small farmers or ranchers. The pigs are to be destroyed in April. I wonder if this is something ALEC has created? To read the full text, one can find it on naturalnews.com. Ron Paul has this posted on his website also.
It is time to bring out into the open the Trojan Horse -- ALEC. They profess to do 'good', however it is only lip service when they want to control this country and push it back into the 18th century. It is time to give everyone their rights. For a partial list of corporations known to have been or are members of ALEC can be found on SourceWatch.org. I began counting and stop after the C's with 117 corporations so far.
To protect our rights, each of us can write our state and national legislators and demand that no more counting election votes by machine. The machines used are owned by corporations. Let us return to the hand-counting. Yes, it may take longer. Isn't it worth knowing that our ballots are being counted by live people?
Every State senator/representative should be contacted about allowing ALEC to ghost-write their laws. Every national senator/representative should also be contacted and protest about the influence ALEC has on the laws. Perhaps when we hear of a bill ready to be voted upon that we should read it. I doubt if our senators or representatives take the time to read it thoroughly. It is time for us to hear our voices heard loud and clear and bring down the Trojan Horse. What can we do? We can send this information everywhere to all our friends and relatives. We can also let our state, county and national representatives know that we want this changed.
