The bipartisan trap

Bipartisanship is a nice philosophy. One envisions Congress Members shaking hands, and working in a positive atmosphere for the good of the country. Unfortunately, this philosophy is currently nothing more than an unattainable fantasy. Both parties must see a mutual advantage that can be attained for bipartisanship to grow. This needed quality is lacking in the Republican party. Republican party members' inability to accept that they have lost not one, but two elections, combined with their political dogma of party first politics has, for now, destroyed any hopes of bipartisanship.

Bipartisianship is unattainable when you have one party that has no desire to cooperate. After numerous attempts by President Obama and the Democratic party, the Republican party has chosen to ignore bipartisan and take on an obstructionist role. You may ask why and the answer is simple: The current Republican party members in Congress have decided that their party is more important then anything else and they see nothing to be gained by a bipartisan role.

Their hopes and dreams are for ultimate power to be gained via the failure of the Democratic party policies. They reject reality in exchange for fantasy. They ignore the fact that for almost 30 years, their policies were used and the current result is the almost complete financial collapse of the United States. They reject what history tells the world, that their policies do not work! Their policies have FAILED the test of time!

When Democrats reach out to the Republican party in a bipartisan effort, Democrats are met with resistance from Republicans that have no desire to work with them. The Republicans look upon the Democrats as not equals but the enemy! This makes bipartisanship impossible! The Democrats need to understand that as long as they are in the Bipartisan zone, they are not part of the ultimate solution, but part of the problem.

By their repeated attempts they are becoming enablers of the Anti-American and Anti-bipartisanship behavior exhibited by the Republicans they are trying to work with.
This behavior NEEDS TO STOP! Tough Love is needed in the form of shocking the Republicans from their delusional world to the current 21st century. This can be attained by repeatedly reminding Republicans of what the current circumstances are in the United States, and whose policies got us here! When met with resistance to cooperation, one must use the past policies of the Republican party against the Republicans.

The Republicans must be made to recognize that their days of supposed superiority of all others is gone. One way that this can be obtained would be for all current Recovery legislation to have a Bill attached to it called the (NO VOTE = NO DOUGH BILL). This Bill concept is a very simple way to force ALL Republicans into the 21st Century. When, for Party reasons, they reject a portion of the Recovery bill, say for instance, road repair. If said portion of the Recovery plan is passed by Congress, then the states of those Representatives in Congress that voted against the passing of this portion of the Recovery plan, would receive no funds from this portion of the plan. This would force the Representative to explain to his or her constituents why no funds are available for that state.

This, combined with every opportunity, and through all available forms of media, the reassertion of the current devastating effects of Republican policies on the United States. One important topic that needs ultimate attention is the backing, without any form of restraints, of the over $700 Billion dollar Wall Street BAILOUT! This should be used to the extent that when ANY and ALL REPUBLICANS hear (WALL STREET) they duck and run for cover. Their objectives are clear tax breaks for all corporations and the rich.
Now is indeed the time for change! Let us hold accountable the policies of the Republican Party and make the accountable to all via the (NO VOTE = NO DOUGH BILL). By the way, for those that are wondering, this is not legal; however, what is legal is the spirit of change that is the underlining goal of this piece.

The Democratic Party needs to recognize the ball is in their court. America voted for change and demands that those voted for, have the inner fortitude to act upon the voted will of the majority of the people. As for myself, I voted for change and if neither party recognizes or respects the votes of myself and the majority of the voters in America then the politicians have dropped the ball. Beware ALL politicians "WE THE PEOPLE" are watching and you had better CHANGE fast! The founding Fathers spoke loud and clear of the rights of the Peoples Will, to be properly represented and advocated for the people to react in whatever means deemed necessary, to have their votes respected and acted upon in a competent manner. Do not drop the ball and play games. D

emocrats in Congress need to stand strong and not give in to the bully tactics of the Republicans, for if they do, the cost may be something that both parties fear the most. When the Peoples Will, is no longer properly represented, then the people have the RIGHT to step in and force change via civil disobedience. Look around. MILLIONS of Americans are hurting if you, our chosen Representatives, refuse to care for the people. "We the People" will have no choice but to follow the example of the Founding Fathers and do as they did, clean house and start over with a government that is more responsive to the will and needs of the people.

The time is right for CHANGE, now it is up to all of you in Congress, as to what form of Change is needed and called upon by either your inaction or action. Make your choice wisely for the cost may be more than you ever imagined.
