California law prohibits schools from forcing children being taught anything relating to health and family issues without parental consent.
Yet, that is the main thrust of supporters of California’s statewide Proposition 8, which would constitutionally ban same sex marriage in the state if passed by voters.
They’re using the same old Karl Rove scare tactics.
Be afraid, very afraid if we Californians continue to allow gays to marry. Life as you know it will cease to exist.
Their ad starts out telling us that existing law compels us to accept gay marriage, even if it goes against our moral values.
Guess what you frightened, narrow-minded schmucks, there are a lot of laws on the books that “offend” my moral values, but until they’re changed -- like making prostitution and drug use legal -- I have to live with them.
Their second line of attack in the same ad, which is a total lie, is that same sex marriage will be taught to 2nd graders in public schools, just as has happened in Massachusetts.
While I’m pretty sure they conveniently left out the fact that Massachusetts probably has an exception in their law; I’m dead on certain that they too conveniently and deliberately left out that teensy fact regarding California law.
California law absolutely, unequivocally PROHIBITS, BARS and DISALLOWS California public schools from teaching elementary school children such things without parental consent.
Of course, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom didn’t help matters when he declared that gay marriage is happening “Whether you like it or not.”
So what’s it to them anyway?
Supporters of ’yes’ on Proposition 8 can’t and won’t answer that question.
They always come up with pontificating tripe like this quote from Sonja Eddings Brown, deputy communications director for Project Marriage:
The only question is how do we provide for the right of all the shareholders in marriage in California? And that includes children, so we don’t have to imagine the consequences in changing historic laws guiding traditional marriage.
Idiots! We had historic, traditional slavery laws and segregation, too.
For the life of me I can’t figure out how gay marriage is a threat to or will destroy “traditional” marriage. Is it contagious like chicken pox? If one of us sits next to a married gay couple will magic dust waft over us making our marriage miserable.
