The cat is out of the bag now, and attempting to delve into the Tea Party's War on the unemployed is so grotesque that if widely publicized, could be the effective end of the Tea Party as we know it if the broader population of the United States views their agenda as anything other than grossly Anti-American:
Tea Party Group Urges Small Businesses "Not To Hire A Single Person' To Hurt ObamaBy Marie Diamond on Oct 20, 2011 at 11:25 am
Congressional Republicans have acted shocked and offended at Democrats' suggestions that they are intentionally sabotaging the economy to try to win back the White House in 2012. Republicans have refused to pass President Obama's jobs plan -- which experts estimate will create at least 1.9 million jobs -- and proposed an alternative plan that Moody's says "will likely push the economy back into recession."
Now influential Tea Party leaders are throwing caution to the wind and openly lobbying business owners to stop hiring in order to hurt Obama politically. This week, Right Wing Watch picked up on a message Tea Party Nation sent to their members from conservative activist Melissa Brookstone.
In a rambling letter titled "Call For A Strike of American Small Businesses Against The Movement for Global Socialism," Brookstone urges businesses "not hire a single person" to protest "this new dictator":
Resolved that: The current administration and Democrat majority in the Senate, in conjunction with Progressive socialists from all around the country, especially those from Hollywood and the left leaning news media (Indeed, most of the news media.) have worked in unison to advance an anti-business, an anti-free market, and an anti-capitalist (anti-individual rights and property ownership) agenda. [...]
I, an American small business owner, part of the class that produces the vast majority of real, wealth producing jobs in this country, hereby resolve that I will not hire a single person until this war against business and my country is stopped. MORE
And in Congress, it wasn't much better. CNN is reporting:
Washington (CNN) -- Democrats and Republicans tried to force versions of a jobs bill through the Senate late Thursday, but both fell short of the 60 votes they would have needed to bring their proposals to the floor.
In a 50-50 vote, senators blocked a component of President Barack Obama's jobs bill -- $35 billion for states and localities to hire more teachers and first responders while preventing current ones from being laid off.
"For the second time in two weeks, every single Republican in the United States Senate has chosen to obstruct a bill that would create jobs and get our economy going again," Obama said in a statement.
"That's unacceptable. We must do what's right for the country and pass the common-sense proposals in the American Jobs Act."
DNC chair: Obama jobs bill "critical'
The funding would have been paid for by a 0.5% tax increase on people earning more than $1 million a year. Republicans opposed the tax increase.
"Republicans have once again said no to creating jobs in America and no to helping the American people. They have turned their backs on our children and the safety of our communities by blocking a bill that would put 400,000 teachers, police officers and firefighters back to work," Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-California, said in a statement. MORE
