(Given Romney's relation to Utah , I believe this is a rather significant article. I'd say the same due to the present balance of the U.S. Senate. My next article will focus on the real nature of Hatch and Howell, with a few significant examples.)

Part 1 of this short series appears here: http://www.opednews.com/articles/Utah-s-Moral-Compass-With-by-Daniel-Geery-120928-789.html

This part focuses on the media collusion to exclude third party candidates from public debate. I will start with a letter that I and two other senatorial candidates put together, which summarizes the situation here in Utah, the very place Mitt Romney went to college and spent many of his formative years. It makes reference to a recent debate between Senator Hatch (R, incumbent) and Scott Howell (D), and how third parties were excluded, with a list of contradictory reasons given.

The following letter was sent to all newspapers in Utah and it will be of considerable interest to see who publishes it and who prefers to treat their readers with utter contempt. Note: My words surrounding the letter are my own and I am not speaking for the other candidates in this regard.

Dear Editor,

With a Democrat and Republican Congress at a 10% approval rating, the exclusion of three candidates from political debate is a disservice to those concerned with real solutions to urgent problems.  The recent U.S. Senatorial debate, televised by KUED and KBYU, excluded candidates with important ideas on climate change, education, drones, citizen rights, and the Constitution, to cite a few examples.

Are we going to hand our children an impossible world to live in because we fail to consider solutions beyond business-as-usual? This approach has created the mess we now face. We are long overdue for a move from dominant party politics and must engage in a broad diversity of ideas and strategies.

As a service to present and future generations who long for the best world possible, we challenge the print and broadcast media, and especially KUED and KBYU, to include the voices of all candidates running for election, as a proper service to citizens of Utah. Burning issues such as those above are too important to be crushed by the chilling of voices by Utah media. We encourage readers to visit the websites below to see their various options, and to vote by conscience rather than party politics.

Sincerely,

Bill Barron, Unaffiliated, barronforussenate.com

In my run for U.S. Senate against Utah's Orrin Hatch, I posted many progressive ideas and principles that I internalized over the years. I'm leaving that site up indefinitely, since it describes what I believe most members of our species truly (more...)
