Seriously, WTF is wrong with these people?
Obama campaigned against the PATRIOT Act. He campaigned against Guantà ¡namo Bay. He campaigned against warrentless surveillance. And, as soon as he was elected he tossed his campaign promises into the trash, along with our Bill of Rights.
He failed to close Guantà ¡namo Bay as promised. He continued warrantless surveillance and military tribunals that denied defendants basic rights. And now he claims the right to kill U.S. citizens he views as terrorists.
Whose side is he on?
More Republicans voted in Favor of the Patriot Act than Democrats.
At Obama's request, Congress included in last year's National Defense Authorization Act authority for the U.S. military to arrest and detain -- indefinitely and without charge -- U.S. citizens.
222 Republicans voted in favor of Indefinite Detention; only 77 Democrats voted for it.
Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act is in the NDAA because Obama wants it in there. He wants the power to detain indefinitely anyone he and the intelligence community see as a threat, whether that person is an American or not. If he didn't want it, he never would have signed it. If he didn't want it, he wouldn't have sent the Department of Justice into court to fight the lower court's stay of that specific provision of the bill.
Most House Republicans support the indefinite detention without trial of American citizens.
Barack Obama poses a clear and present threat to our civil liberties; yet -- for the past 4-years -- his supporters have apologized for, made excuses for, or wilfully ignored his actions. Their "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" approach to his malfeasance is akin to a classic case of the Stockholm syndrome, in which a hostage bonds with his captor despite the obvious threat to his existence.
Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.
Obama's war on our civil liberties is a fact --
a matter of public record -- yet his supporters keep on touting him as our "best hope."
Our best hope!
What the F*ck! Whose side are these people on?
