Why Do Progressives Like Bob Beckel Work For Fox?

The other day Fox Democratic commentator Bob Beckel got into a high-decibel debate with right wing blowhard Eric Bolling.  The topic was the Herman Cain allegation that the Democrats were behind the stories accusing him of sexual harassment.   The discussion got quite heated with Beckel actually using the "B" word and branding Bolling's repetition of the Cain claim as "bullshit."

The entire spectacle made me wonder.  Why does Bob Beckel even work for Fox?  What purpose does it serve to have a liberal or progressive voice on a network whose viewers could care less what he has to say or what right-wing lie he exposes?

We live in the age of hate where the right wing has trained it's followers to "believe" that the other side is evil.  Just plain evil   No description to dramatize the "evil" branding is too excessive.  Calling someone a commie or socialist is too tame.  Now it's "Islamofascist" or worse.  Any progressive domestic policy is in support of the "homosexual" agenda.  Hell, they even invent non-existent sections of the Constitution to use as phony footnotes to add credibility to their daily lies.

The whole strategy has been to create a core group of followers who will buy any line of crap the boys at the top throw out without any effort to verify alleged facts.  When political consultants talk about a candidate's base of support they are really talking about the idiots who will simply believe a candidate no matter what he or she says or does.

So, once again.  What purpose does Bob Beckel being there serve except to get Bob Beckel a hefty pay-check as a replacement for Alan Colmes?   80% or more of regular Fox viewers are 55+ years old and believe almost any attack on Democrats, progressives, or liberals. They even participate in the lie-campaign by forwarding via email the daily lies and rants to their wacka-doodle or brain-dead friends.

I fail to see what purpose any progressive working for anything Fox serves.
