Why I will Not Vote Republican

I grew up in a Republican household. My first presidential vote was for Eisenhower. Over the years, I have observed more crookedness from the Republican Party than Democrats. I became disillusioned when John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy were assassinated and, also Martin Luther King. Then we had had a Republican President Nixon who had to leave office because of the Watergate scandal. I began voting Libertarian and then realized that I might as well not voted because the Libertarian votes were worthless. When I realized this, I began voting for the Democratic Party.

Eisenhower warned us in his farewell speech to be aware of the industrial, defense complex. None of us really got the message. When the Supreme Court gave corporations the right to be "persons', this reinforced their ability to overshadow the rights of the people. Our economy began to suffer with the rich becoming richer. We now have in this country Corporate World thanks to the Supreme Court. Corporate World has the ability to bring in funds from all of their world operations.

The Republicans have a stranglehold on our U.S. Legislature and is making inroads in our State legislatures. The benefits for women are seriously eroded thanks to them and ALEC, i.e. American Legislative Exchange Council. They are the ghostwriters for many legislative bills and their aim is to promote the wealth of corporations and bring poverty to middle class America. ALEC controls the Republican Party and it is obvious that there is a war on the rights of women such as abortion, Planned Parenthood, and to cut billions from pre-schooling of children, even to taking away low income housing, senior housing and meals. The Republican also plan to reduce Medicare and have fought Obama's plan for medical care.

One only has to note the funds that pour in to our state senators and representatives. Why do you think that there is so much unemployment? Don't place the blame on Obama. Place the blame on the Republicans who belong to ALEC. There is a list on-line that will tell you who they are. It is time to take our blinders off. We should have known when outsourcing to other countries began and U.S. companies laid off employees. It is time to regain people power and not 'person', i.e. corporate power.

The Occupy groups attempted to give a voice to what is going on, but U.S. citizens ignored, complained and continued to watch their TV programs, movies, sports games, NASCAR and allowed the brutality of police to subdue them.

During the last election four years ago, I learned a lot from Obama. I read his books and I listened to him. Once he was sworn in office, he was boomeranged by the Republican Party who took over the House of Representatives and became powerful in the Senate. It has taken me four years to learn why our country has become poverty-stricken for the majority of the people. One could label it Corporate World who got into the pockets of the majority of our Supreme Court Justices who gave them the rights of a "person'. Persons are not people. These corporate persons are allowed to funnel a great deal of money into this country and not for the people.

"In a special report on ALEC, Bill Moyers summarized it as "an organization hiding in plain sight, yet one of the most influential and powerful in American politics." "Politicians and lobbyists at the core of this clever enterprise figured out how to pull it off in an organized, camouflaged way -- covering their tracks while they put one over on an unsuspecting public." "They were smart and understood something very important: that they might more easily get what they wanted from state capitals than from Washington, DC. So they started putting their money in places like Raleigh, North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; Phoenix, Arizona; and Madison, Wisconsin. (Wikipedia)"

Most voters do not keep up with what their state and national representatives and senators are doing. Few know that ALEC has ghost writers who write bills for state and national legislatures.   I now can see why the news media printed stories about Obama not being a U.S. citizen; that he had no legitimate birth certificate. Oh yes, a devious plot ALEC created to   under mind what Obama really wanted to do. Few people realized that he had lofty plans for this country and the rude awakening must have been painful when he really saw the trail left by the George Bush and Dick Cheney Republican administration.   Iraq was a disaster and it is still reeling from what our troops and those of NATO did. What did it accomplish? Money for the corporations who enjoy war and create war machines. The industrial defense complex that Eisenhower warned us about has moved on to Afghanistan. Let's not blame Obama. He has to deal with these war lords.

Few people know the 200 things Obama has accomplished since he became President. Click on this website for viewing: **200 Things President Obama Has Accomplished... -- http://rabbleprochoice.tumblr.com/post/31477777027/200-things-president-obama-has-accomplished

None of us have walked in his shoes. And few people have read his books. Amazon.com has them and the latest is one titled: Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters.

By not voting for Obama, we give our power away and the votes fall by the wayside. It is time for us to take the blinders off of our eyes and our minds and really see who and what is leading this country into poverty. I am voting for Obama because I believe in him. He's doing the best he can with what he has.

We should all remember that this country was founded by immigrants who took it away from the Indians; first by the British and followed by immigrants from other countries. We have many religions in this country with Christianity having many different views. This country was not founded on Christianity. It was founded for people to be free from oppression. "The Government of the United States is not in any sense founded upon the Christian Religion." 1797 the treaty of Tripoli, signed by President Washington, and approved by the Senate of the United States
