The news media is paying more attention to political news than sport or academic news for example. However, more attention should be paid to the numerous positive interactions between the two countries of United States of America and Iran. This is an attempt to demonstrate that there are useful and cooperative activities that have taken place among Americans and Iranians and should be encouraged.
In Wrestling, American wrestlers came to Iran in February 2013 and participated in the World Cup in Tehran; in May, 2013, Iranian wrestlers were in New York city to compete in friendly wrestling matches with American and Russian wrestlers.
American, Iranian, and Russian wrestlers are excellent examples of how countries can get along. It is important to note that these three countries won eighty percent of London Olympics wrestling medals in 2012; they are considered the best in the world.

Another area which American and Iranians have cooperated is academia. American academic personnel come to Iran and participate in academic conferences in a variety of fields such as history and geography. Iranian professors participate in American conferences. When several American professors visited Tabriz and Tehran universities recently, they were warmly welcomed and enjoyed the hospitality of Iranians who proudly escorted the Americans on sight-seeing tours.
Iran has become a leader in several medical fields such as genetic engineering and offers regular seminars to researchers from all over the world. Regular conferences are held in major cities such as Tehran and Isfahan and in April 2013 participants came from thirty two countries.
In the area of medicine, Iranian doctors have offered a variety of experiments and medicine to Americans. One example which should be used as a model is Iranian produced anti-venom to deal with snake bites. FDA approved anti-venoms do not work on Afghan snake bites because they are manufactured from snake venom found in U.S. species. A medical guideline issued by U.S. military officers says drugs made by Iran's Razi institute "should be the first line of anti-venom therapy," because of its effectiveness. Sports are an excellent venue to bring people of different countries together. Interaction among nations increases understanding and lowers barriers, facilitating, for example, obtaining visas for travelling.
