These men and boys have been in detention without a trial, many without charges, since they were rounded up in Afghanistan in 2002. Most of them are low-level Taliban fighters, who have never committed a terrorist act and have little or no useful information to offer.
The US is committing atrocious war crimes, especially in Gitmo, which is violating the Geneva Conventions. Veterans for Peace is calling for impeachment for these and other war crimes, such as using internationally banned weapons in Iraq- cluster bombs, napalm, and especially "depleted" uranium weaponry, which is highly radioactive and mainly targets civilians.

Some of the fasters at Guantanamo are being force-fed, given IV's, or stomach tubes. One has to wonder about the purpose of continuing to hold and torture these men, and continuing to deny them due process. Is the point to terrorize the rest of the world by showing the brutality the US is capable of? What has our country come to? The world is judging us. Can the American people not relent, repent of these evil deeds, and impeach those responsible?
