Since November our dedicated volunteers have been Walking for Democracy by gathering affidavits from hundreds of voters that prove that the voting machines, in fact, did not count accurately. In every precinct canvassed, the data shows that Clint received 6-22% more votes than stated in the official result. Unlike Christine Jennings in Florida’s 13th Congressional District, which has 18,000 missing votes that can not be verified, we gathered hard evidence that shows exactly where the election results are inaccurate. This data can be independently reproduced and verify, once and for all, that the machines did not record accurately. Last week, the House Administration Committee dismissed our contest. Their excuses were that the affidavits signed under penalty of perjury and witnessed by our volunteers were not “enough evidence” and, “due to secrecy of ballot rules, affidavits cannot be recognized.” One staffer said, “You just can't expect people to tell you who they voted for to your face and use that in court.” Clint says, “In an election where the source code is proprietary and the result hidden, the only reliable way to evaluate the election system is by voter affidavits. Affidavits and eye witness testimony are the corner stone of our legal system. The court accepts sworn affidavits as evidence of the truth. Congress should as well.” Clint continues to ask Congress for an Independent Investigation. “Although we don’t understand why they want to keep Feeney in a seat he may not have won, we will accept that decision. This is not about personal gain. It is about our Democracy--that every voter across the nation will know their votes will be counted. Therefore, we still request an independent investigation into District 24 even though the results will not alter who is seated. We trust Congress will not regard the voters as liars and will accept legal testimony over secret software. Congress should not be telling the voter that their freedoms are unimportant and they must move to the back of the bus. This is not about partisan politics. This is about our Democracy.
