Power and Responsibility of Democracy

Airs on WNJC 1360AM, Philadelphia's Renaissance Radio Station and the
Internet
THIS WEEK'S SPECIAL GUEST:
Professor Chuck Pennacchio
Discussing 1776 and 2006: American Crisis Years
November 21, 2006

Doylestown - Join the Voice of the Voters this Wednesday at 8pm on 1360AM
for a lively discussion about American Democracy and perhaps a visit from "Paul
Revere."

Tomorrow's Thanksgiving week show will feature a special discussion of
founding American principles, the role of citizens in a democracy and what we
can do together to make a difference. The special guest will be Dr. Chuck
Pennacchio, historian and former candidate for U.S. Senate.

America faced crisis in 1776 and it faces crises today. What are the
differences? What are the similarities? Be part of a conversation that will ask
those questions and more. How did we get here? What were the founding principles? What is the difference
between Liberty and Democracy? What was it in the American character that
differed from the Old World in 1776? What are the lessons for today? What is the
responsibility of the government, citizens, media, and corporations?

As Dr. Pennacchio often reminds his students and citizens across
Pennsylvania, from crisis can come opportunity. Can that opportunity be acheived
today and what will it take to acheive it? What is at stake in the struggle?

As always, John Gideon , Executive Director of Voters Unite will give us a
headstart on all the week's voting news before it hits the major media.

Voice of the Voters is an hour devoted to voting rights, election reform
and voter-verified paper ballots. Ultimately it is an exploration of Democracy
itself and the responsibilities of citizens and their elected representatives.
It airs every Wednesday night at 8:00 PM on 1360 AM and on the Internet.
Listeners can call in questions live at 856-227-1360 and submit questions in advance at the SaveOurVote
website.

Upcoming guests include:

11/29 BEV HARRIS: Founder and Director of Black Box Voting. Harris has
been referred to as "the godmother" of the election reform movement. (Boston
Globe). Vanity Fair magazine credits her with founding the movement to reform
electronic voting. Time Magazine calls her book, Black Box Voting, "the bible"
of electronic voting. Most recently her work was featured in the HBO

.Dr. Pennacchio's Bio:

Chuck Pennacchio is a Pennsylvania native, born in Delaware County in
1959. He lives in rural Bucks County with his wife of 14 years, Nancy, and their
two children.

A PhD in American, European, and Diplomatic History, Chuck directs the
History Program at University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He teaches courses in American History,
National Security Studies, and Politics and the Media. He has co-authored two
books -- a document-centered survey of American History, and a teaching-centered
approach to the Philippine-American War of 1899 -1901 -- and published numerous
articles in on history, politics and diplomacy.

Chuck serves on the board of the Tabor Children's House, is a member of
Plumsteadville Grange #1738, is active in his children's elementary school, and
teaches 3d and 4th graders at Buxmont Unitarian Church.

An experienced organizer, Chuck has taken on tough political
challenges-against long odds-and won time and again. As a statewide field
organizer in 1984, Chuck helped Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) win his first election
against a radical right incumbent. As Deputy Campaign Manager for Tim Wirth's
long-shot 1986 US Senate victory in Colorado, Chuck directed all operations,
including an historic grassroots field effort, to defeat another hard-right Republican. Following the Wirth victory, Senator Paul Simon (D-IL)
hired Chuck to run his 1988 Iowa-Illinois field campaigns. Simon won the
Illinois primary in a landslide.

Chuck has federal level experience working on Capitol Hill, as Personal
Aide to US Senator Alan Cranston, and as Military Personnel Advocate for
Congressman Ron Dellums. He is the founder of Citizen Solutions for
Pennsylvania.
