In one short month, Congresswoman Gillibrand has been making a name for herself by keeping her promises to her district. National and local press have given her accolades on her Town Hall style meetings and for her adherence to the revolutionary "Sunlight Agreement" which requires members of Congress to disclose their meetings with lobbyists. She is the first Member of Congress to actively divulge her public schedule and personally commit to open governance.

As a member of the Armed Services Committee, heard testimony from Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and has determined that sending more troops to Iraq is not an effective way to win the war: She was also appointed to the influential Terrorism Subcommittee as well as the Air and Land Subcommittee. Rep. Gillibrand also sits on the Agriculture Committee, a critical issue for the many farmers in the district.

As part of the new majority, the House of Representatives has immediately responded to the will of the voters:

*
Passing legislation to instate lobbying reform
*
Committing to fiscal discipline in the form of Pay-As-You-Go
*
Increasing the minimum wage
*
Promoting stem cell research

If all of this has happened in the first month, imagine what we can accomplish over the next two years!
