The Hope of Humanity

Message Ashu M. G. Solo
Oh, land of liberty, land of the free,
Humanity's greatest hopes lie with thee;
There are many hopes for which we should fight,
But for which we too often lose sight.

Let us by our framers' timeless principles align,
And in their mighty shadows, we shall shine;
Let there be no king to enshrine
And never a royal blood line;
Let no king decree
And everybody be born free;
Let everyone enjoy full free speech,
For only then can we begin to reach;
Let us have the right to disagree
And be whatever we want to be;
Let our government be a democracy
And never an autocracy;
Let no government escape malign
And every leader eventually resign;
Let the Constitution give our rights a guarantee
From sea to shining sea;
Let us protect the rights of the minority
From the misdirected will of the majority;
Let there be no state religion
To some evangelical zealots' chagrin;
Let us trust in our own divine
Or even revel in the wine;
Let nobody be above the law,
Especially those enforcing the law;
Let justice be blind
With nobody wrongly confined;
Let the state's prying eyes
Never allow our privacy to be in compromise;
Let everyone have their day in court,
For due process can never be cut short;
Let full access never be denied,
No matter what our kind;
Let our leadership by example
Show that on rights one must not trample;
Let conquest and pillage never be our game
And liberty and science always be our fame;
Let us have the mightiest military defense,
But never use it in offense;
Let people of all backgrounds come together in unity
To share in unlimited opportunity;
Let opportunity emanate from every mountainside
With nobody left by the trailside;
Let us be pioneers in every pursuit,
And nobody with an idea need play mute.

For all of our hopes, we are the envy of the world
When our flag is unfurled;
And the star-spangled banner forever in triumph should wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
