investigated by the new Congress to determine
who pushed for this and whether any ethical or legal rules were broken.
Now Deputy Assistant Secretary Of Defense Cully Stimson attacks the patriotism of blue chip law firms for defending detainees, and threatens both their corporate clients and the firms by suggesting their clients initiate a blacklist against them.
Make no mistake: he was proposing a blacklist and he was also threatening military JAGs who have acted most honorably.
Mr. Stimson seems to think he works for the Defense Department in Vladimir Putin's Russia.
It is not enough for DOD to "distance itself" from this.
Mr. Stimson should be hauled before Congress, put his hand on the Bible, and testify under oath with hard questions asked.
Mr. Stimson should be fired.
If he isn't, Secretary Gates should be called before Congress and asked the hard questions as well.
We live in America, not Putin's Russia.
