The outing of an undercover CIA agent running a key network in the "war against terror" fits the definition of treason- giving aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war. Plame's outing must have given great aid and comfort to the enemy, to terrorists seeking WMD's. Even if the leakers didn't know, as they claim, that Plame was undercover, they should have checked. But they did know.
Plame's network was tracking WMD's internationally to keep them out of the hands of terrorists. According to early reports, she was running an international network of around 70 "assets"- people all around the world who were risking their lives to provide information to the US and to prevent the illegal spread of WMD's. Such "assets" take years to cultivate. When she was outed, some of these people may well have been killed. And the trade is WMD's must have gotten much brisker.
Treason is a capital offense. We know that high officials in both Bush and Cheney's office were involved. Cheney himself was probably central. Indications are that Bush knew after the fact and was very angry. But obviously he did nothing to identify and punish the perpetrators- they are still around him, still advising him. So he is also a traitor.
We the people have been betrayed, and we are waiting for our attroney, the Special Prosecutor, to issue indictments. May they be many, and weighty, and expose the evil network of traitors that has taken over the machinery of government!
The psalm for today (from http://www.usccb.org/nab/102705.htm) expresses the sentiments of the psalmist, King David, when he was surrounded by enemies. It perfectly expresses my sentiments toward Rove, Libby, Bush, Cheney, and the rest. I have taken the liberty of making some changes, such as substituting "the people" for David, and "the traitors" for "mine enemy". The following verses are all from Psalm 109, with my comments interspersed.
Psalm 109
1Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;
Fill the Special Prosecutor with a zeal for justice, and with Your righteous wrath against those who betray our trust.
2For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against us: they have confused us and spoken against us with a lying tongue.
The traitors have seized control of mainstream media, and promulgate lies. They do their best to intimidate those who speak the truth on behalf of the people.
3They compassed us about also with words of hatred; and fought against us without a cause.
We are constantly being fed hatred by the Bush administration. We are to hate "terrorists" (translation- Muslims), homosexuals, women who have abortions and their health care providers, atheists and freethinkers, and anyone who opposes Bush. Meanwhile, they are stripping our public treasury and lining their pockets, demolishing the structure of social services which we count on, and despoiling our land and oceans.
4In return for our love, (and votes, and support) they are our adversaries: but we give ourselves unto prayer for justice.
Bless Parick Fitzgerald, and protect him! May he do his job well!
