Let's all go to this website and tell Howard Dean that the people want impeachment of Bush and Cheney. We want impeachment to be the #1 campaign issue above all others. We will not give any money to the Democrats until they advocate impeachment.
Many people responded to the initial call to write to Dean with enthusiasm and action. Others have tried to throw a wet blanket on the idea and say that impeachment is impossible, and working for it is a waste of time. Here are my reasons for feeling that this particular effort will matter. My sample letter to Howard Dean is at the bottom of this post.
You should take a few minutes to write to Dean:
BECAUSE- Howard Dean, as chair of the DNC, is in a policy-making position for the Democratic party, which claims to represent the people, but is acting in cahoots with Bush. Dean started out with an honest challenge to Bush's war politics, and was shot down by the mainstream Dems in 2004. Rather than quitting, he has clawed his way to a position of some influence within the party. Now is the time for him to use it! Let us appeal to the better side of his nature, the side that launched his presidential candidacy with some idealism. Dean has some integrity.
BECAUSE- the people are ripe for impeachment, and the Dems need to know that the people want it. If they are the party of the people, they need to work for our interests, uphold the Constitution that invests ultimate sovereignty in WE THE PEOPLE, and get rid of the party that is sucking our country dry of treasure and resources.
BECAUSE- the impeachment issue makes it clear that the Bush White House is committing crimes that cannot be tolerated. It labels the perpetrators as criminals, instead of continuing politics-as-usual.
BECAUSE- impeachment is an electrifying concept that has the power to sweep the country, a powerful grassroots movement that can unite the people behind impeachment candidates and take back our government from the pirates who have hijacked
it.

Dear Dr. Dean,
The number 1 priority for this country is to impeach Bush and Cheney for high crimes and misdemeanors. Lying us into war, outing a CIA agent, allowing 9-11 to happen- there is an endless list of treasonous activities.
We would like to see every Democratic candidate for Congress in 2006 pledge to work for impeachment.
Impeachment cannot happen in the usual way, through the House Judiciary Committee, as long as the Republicans control the committee chairs. But there is an an alternate route. Under the House rules, if a state legislature calls for impeachment, the entire House must stop all other business and consider the resolution.
Your home state of Vermont could initiate this procedure, and thereby get Congr. John Conyers House Resolutions 635,636 & 637 out of the Judiciary Committee and onto the House floor. We ask you to use your influence to persuade the Vermont legislature to pass a resolution calling for investigation into treason and other impeachable offenses on the part of Bush and Cheney.
