The outgoing Republican Congress was complicit with Bush. He could not have committed so many crimes against humanity, international law, and the US Constitution without complicity from Congress.
So far, the incoming Democratic Congress has shown almost equal complicity. There are no direct challenges to Bush's crimes: "impeachment is not on the table". The Democrats plan "cooperation", bipartisanship".
The Bush administration has ripped off the American public in almost every way imaginable. Our international reputation as an honorable nation is ruined. Our budget is ruined. Our environment is being ruined. Our "commons"- the public sphere of infrastructure and services- is being ruined by privatization. Our precious Constitution is in tatters.
How can the Democrats even think of playing ball with these criminals?
