I understand that you have six grandchildren. Don't you care about the future? Don't you know that Bush's policies are destroying the future? His endless "war on terror" is bound to lead to nuclear war, which will pollute the gene pool beyond repair. He is bankrupting the treasury, destroying the environment, shredding the Constitution.
The only way to stop him and Cheney is to STOP them- not fence with them, not play ball with them, not fight with them, but STOP them. The Constitution has provided a clear means for doing this- IMPEACHMENT. Yet you have taken impeachment off the table, and are doing your best to keep it off the table.
Madam Speaker, your oath of office compels you to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Bush and Cheney are the greatest enemies the Constitution has ever known. One small example- the presidential "signing statements" which override the laws which your body, Congress, passes on behalf of your constituents, We the People. This destruction of the balance of powers so carefully crafted by the Founding Fathers, this amassing of power in the "unitary executive"- so like the King George who was cast off by our bloody Revolutionary war- this assault on the Constitution - is a high crime. As Speaker, your clear duty is to remove the offenders, Bush and Cheney, from office as quickly as possible via IMPEACHMENT.
Madam Speaker, you are a Catholic. That means you honor truth, that you love your neighbors, including the Iraqis and Afghanis, and that you follow the Prince of Peace. Bush is a liar, an instigator of hatred, a warmonger. Why do you protect him from IMPEACHMENT?
As a public official and as a Christian, you are supposed to respect authority. According to the US Constitution, authority rests with We the People, and you are mandated to represent us- that's what electoral politics is all about. Why are you not carrying out your responsibility?
Madam Speaker, we feel that your position as majority leader mandates that you represent all the citizens of the United States. Your office, however, insists that you represent only the voters of your district, San Francisco. Why then do you ignore the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, which voted articles of impeachment last year? Why do you ignore the voters of San Francisco, 60% of whom voted in November for impeachment, on a district-wide referendum? Why are you not representing your home district of San Francisco, whose residents want IMPEACHMENT?
Madam Speaker, our group www.impeachBush-Cheney.org delivered 14,000 signatures of Bay Area voters wanting IMPEACHMENT to your SF office last Hallowe'een. Your phones are now ringing off the hook with callers for IMPEACHMENT. Will you not listen to the voice of We the People?
