I've been angry for two days now and that's not a good thing. It should be a happy time with the end of the year, holiday parties and a big New Years Eve Rally tonight in Times Square --lots of stuff on the agenda! But I'm not happy because as the year comes to a close I find that my disillusionment with America brought me down. I swallowed that red pill somewhere in the middle of 2007, found Ron Paul, discovered internet news and cancelled my biased hometown newspaper (ahem, that would be NEWSDAY from Long Island New York --and if this is my one resolution, is to speak out against a newspaper who has done nothing but ignore or smear my choice of presidential candidate!), and I have taken up reading books that I somehow managed to graduate from high school and college without having had to read, namely Orwell's' "1984" and "Animal Farm". I've also read some other great books recently published; Naomi Wolf's "The End of America" and Judge Andrew Napolitano's "A Nation of Sheep" to name a few.
So where does this leave me going into a new year? Well, I started the Long Island chapter of the Ron Paul Grassroots Meet Up this year and we have a lot of work ahead of us going into Super Tuesday....but but but...back to why I'm sad....
Apparently during this last weekend of the year I find out that Fox News has excluded my choice of Presidential Candidate from their "Round Table" debate and discussion two days before the New Hampshire Primary and I find out that a generous man, L. Lepard who works with the grassroots effort for Ron Paul and whom out of his own pocket, paid upwards of $100,000 for full page ads during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays in The New York Times and USA Today, has had his full page, $84,000 ad pulled from publication this past weekend from the New Hampshire Union Leader after it was already bought and paid for. Just a little coincidental note: This weekend --ALL 4 New Hampshire Newspapers have now endorsed McCain for President. SO that leaves me with a feeling of suppression and the loss of more freedoms. Something Naomi and The Judge have reinforced in their very telling books about the loss of our Liberty.
OK, so I swallow the red pill and my New Years Eve ends up in the pits because now I "care" and I can't go back! That's right --I can't go back to being a Sheep as Judge Napolitano describes those who just fall in line and accept loss of liberty and grow complacent. I can't go back to having a clear head and making an appointment to have my nails done as the world crumbles around me!
I've discovered this year that Fox News is unfair and imbalanced, that CNN is pushing the war because Lockheed Martin pays it's bills and that my candidate, Ron Paul, who raised $19 Million this last quarter alone is pushed aside as a non-candidate because he's the one man pushing Peace? Why would the news have it any other way? Look who owns most of the Main Stream Media --go ahead, google "Who Owns the Media" and see what you come up with. Do it before they take the internet away --hurry, hurry! When the war makes so much money for the elite and Corporate Candidates are being pushed down our throats DOESN'T THAT MAKE YOU WONDER??
So where do I go from here? Well, if I'm going to end this year on a positive note then I have to look around me at the good that HAS come from all of this.
Earlier in the year I attended a seminar on "How to Run a Grassroots Campaign". The speaker, Anita Andrews, opened up with one phrase that I can't seem to forget. She said that if Ron Paul gets elected he won't save you. The only thing that will save you are the people sitting beside you and the connections you have made throughout this campaign. Well, she's right. Because if nothing else I have met so many fine people who have swallowed the red pill along with me this year. We're so awakened by this whole experience that we actually started a R-love-ution! I have been in contact with THOUSANDS of people all over the United States and even outside of the US and really, truly, we have only just begun! Just ask Rudy Guliani. During a campaign stop in Marietta Georgia where he was drowned out by Ron Paul supporters. Asked what he thought, Guliani said "Yeah, Ron Paul has a LOT of supporters."
So don't discount us Ron Paul supporters. You can try and push us back, push us down. You can call us names, exclude our candidate and you can try and box your ears and eyes so you don't have to hear us, see us or read our comments on your blogs....but guess what...WE'RE NOT GOING AWAY! We swallowed the pill and when you do there is NO turning back! So keep being unfair and unbalanced. We are not tin foil hat wearing nobodies, we are Mothers and Fathers, Grandma's and Grandpa's, Lawyers, Doctors, Educators, Bus Drivers, Pilots, US Veterans, High School & College Students, Musicians, Military Personnel and Fire Fighters. We are Policemen, Garbage men, Politicians, Real Estate Agents, Bookstore owners and we are AMERICANS! And we're not going to take it anymore!
SO bring it on 2008! We're ready for you! The Revolution has only just begun. We're boycotting your sponsors this week Fox News......who knows what we'll do tomorrow :) Happy New Year Folks!
