1 Kings 3:  24-28

And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.
Then the king answered and said, Give her
the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof. (emphasis mine) [Online King James Version]

This moment, frozen in time, is legendary for its memorable proof of Solomon's wisdom. But Solomon's rendering of the event is to teach his people the nature of Love. More specifically, it is to show that unconditional love is ready to give up what it loves most in order to save it.  (the antithesis of "we destroyed the village to save it.")

The Democrats were blessed with an embarrassment of riches in their diverse field of candidates for President in 2008. That grand slate has narrowed down to three, and casual observers might think the Democratic Party is lucky to be there waiting to take over in the wake of overwhelming failure of the Bush Junta after only eight years.

But Clinton and Obama are like two cats tied up in a bag-only carnage can result.

The Democrats need Solomon's wisdom right now. Two candidates come to the American People and both say that the Democratic Party is theirs. The wise electorate might ask questions, but in the end would say, "OK, let's split the Democratic Party. You get one half, you get the other half."  Bring in the lawyers and let's do it."

Would either front runner be the true savior of the child and bow out to save its life?

Would both front runners agree to change their  approach, or to defer to Senator Edwards as an excellent compromise who could win it all if supported by a unified party?

We will never know, because where is the Democrats' Solomon?
