Honorable Elected Senators:
We sincerely thank Senator Eric Oemig, Sponsor, and Senators Darlene Fairley, Karen Fraser, Claudia Kauffman, Adam Kline, Jeanne Kohl-Welles, Margarita Prentice, Debbie Regala and Harriet Spanel, Co-Sponsors, of Senate Bill SMJ 8016, calling for an impeachment investigation of President Bush and Vice-President Cheney.
We also ask all other Senators to please support and vote for Senate Bill SMJ 8016, calling for an investigation by the U.S. House of Representatives, and further proceedings, if found to be warranted, including possible impeachment of President Bush and Vice-President Cheney, all in accordance with established federal laws and Congressional procedures.
Pursuit of an investigation will enable our country, and all law abiding people, to ascertain the truth of any allegations made concerning illegal wiretapping, torture and rendition in violation of Laws and Treaties, waging wars under false pretenses and lies presented to Congress, the United Nations and the American people, routine use of signing statements purporting to ignore laws adopted by Congress, and other wrongs too numerous to mention here.
A vote against pursuit of an investigation is a vote for cover-up, and sends the message that you tolerate replacing democracy with unconsitutional policies.
Do you have the courage to hear and act on the voice of the people seeking protection of constitutional rights? Or will you yield to power, and violate your oath of office in the process? You will remember the choice you make for the rest of your life. Your constituents will remember, as well.
Please support and vote for Senate Bill SMJ 8016.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Lloyd and Dorothy Peterson
