Can the U.S. support of Israel empower the KKK?

In this past piece, I spoke of the rise in enrollment of the KKK.  In that piece, I chose to speak of their cowardice in showing their faces.  If one truly has a belief my question is; why hide your identity?

But, that is not what I am here to speak of today since I feel that our own foreign policy as it relates to the state of Israel could be one of the primary reasons in which deluded souls will join this hateful organization.

Can America’s support of Israel in which many of our elected officials are joined at the hip with AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) be the very reason why some Americans are frustrated?  In their frustration, will they look to join groups that mirror their outrage? Just this past week Newsday ran an article in which millions of dollars will be cut that fund Long Island hospitals both at the federal and state level. As reported by Newsday, “Kevin Dahill, the president and chief executive of the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council, a lobbying group for Long Island hospitals, said the proposals are "devastating in nature." He then goes onto say, “You will see full-scale hospitals close on Long Island," He also stated that it “destroys a safety net” As a Long Islander who relies on these hospitals being fully operational to meet the needs of this community, this angers me and it should anger those reading this piece.  Are devastating cuts like these being faced in other communities across the nation?  I would say, most definitely, but it is up to you to open your own local newspapers to read of these cuts.

In this past piece written for Buzzflash.com titled, “And We’re Worried About Box Cutters?”, I wrote should a doomsday scenario face us in which chemical and nuclear plants are the target of terrorist attacks, I wondered, “If there are mass causalities, do we as a country have enough EMTs? With cuts to our hospitals and cost overruns causing lay offs, are hospitals ready for these kinds of scenarios and mass causalities?”

Over the years our foreign policy as it relates to Israel has always been that we would defend her.  Dare I say that our foreign policy in the Middle East is one that protects Israeli interests and not American interests?

Former weapons inspector Scott Ritter stated in this interview for Democracy Now “We're not allowed to be highly critical of the state of Israel. And the other thing we're not allowed to do is discuss the notion that Israel and the notion of Israeli interests may in fact be dictating what America is doing, that what we're doing in the Middle East may not be to the benefit of America's national security, but to Israel's national security. But, see, we don’t want to talk about that, because one of the great success stories out there is the pro-Israeli lobby that has successfully enabled themselves to blend the two together, so that when we speak of Israeli interests, they say, “No, we're speaking of American interests.”

The pro-Israeli lobby that Scott Ritter speaks of is AIPAC.

Newsday also reported of these cuts, “The proposed cutbacks at Long Island hospitals total $531 million in Medicare and Medicaid funding over a five-year span, McCarthy said. New York State would lose about $7.5 billion during the same time period, she said.” Meanwhile during last summers bombing of Lebanon, you the tax payer through our government funded the Israeli bombing campaign.  We gave $280 million dollars in jet fuel to fuel their fighter jets.  We also gave Israel $48 million dollars to rebuild a Palestinian power plant that they blew up.  I am sure that these monies could have been better spent to fund these area hospitals. During the nineties, we sanctioned Iraq because of their non-compliance with some UN resolutions.  In that time, and as relayed to all by George Galloway, one million Iraqi children died as a result.  In the same breath in which I speak of sanctions and non-compliance, to date, Israel has violated numerous UN resolutions. I am going to be blunt here, but why are some nations held accountable where others are not?  I do think that is a fair question to ask.

You may say that this piece loans itself to anti-Semitism on my part, but that is not the case as one views this feed http://youtube.com/watch?v=Udm0xEfCf4Q. Contained within it a rabbi explains in an interview with Fox News Neil Cavuto, that according to the Talmud they were never meant to have a state as a people.  Please take note where he says that anti-Semitism is a creation of anti-Zionism.

Another fascinating piece I read is where 10,000 orthodox Jews protested the state of Israel in which you will read, “They state that since the time that God sent the Jews into exile with the destruction of the temple two thousand years ago the Jews were forbidden to have their own state and that the whole concept of Zionism and the creation of the state of Israel was formed by irreligious Jews contrary to the Torah and the opinion of almost all of the Rabbinical leaders of Judaism worldwide.”

I am extremely concerned when it comes to our support of Israel since I do receive many emails concerning this matter and some of them do border on anti-Semitism or read to me as being blatantly anti-Semitic.  Quite frankly that does scare me.  Will our continued support of Israel above other nations in the Middle East see a rise in anti-Semitism within this nation that the KKK can exploit?  Will the KKK use this exploitation to fill some need out of a frustrated citizenry?  While learned people can differentiate between the faith and governmental policies of Israel, I do fear that others will not see this demarcation.  Can the KKK use our support of Israel for their self-serving purposes?  I do think so.  In the past, I have written some articles when it comes to our support of Israel, but I have been very clear to separate the faith of Judaism and the governmental policies of Israel.

Some have even called me an anti-Semite and just to let you the reader know; I do have Jewish ancestors and living relatives.  So, as I read these anti-Semitic remarks coming through in emails, it abhors me.

In reading this Newsday article in which 4,000 people many which include children are now homeless, I do feel that some will be quick to anger and in this case rightfully so that we are not able to meet the needs of Americans as we fund and support the state of Israel.  We are setting up the right environment for the KKK movement. As we have funded Israel over the years, Newsday reported, “The high cost of housing has driven thousands of families into shelters and onto the streets in the last seven years, homeless experts said.” To those who may seek out hate groups such as the KKK to fill some need in them especially seeing how their needs are not being met while we do fund Israel, all I will say is that this group will not solve your problems.  I do think the solution is coming together as Americans and telling our elected officials that their first responsibility is to Americans.  The KKK is part of the problem and not the solution.

So, it begs the question will our continued support of Israel at the expense of Americans empower the KKK?  That is for you to judge.
