In my previous article in which I spoke of the $592 million dollar American embassy being built in Baghdad, and on the cusp of nine more soldiers that died yesterday just in time for Memorial Day, I want to reach out to the United States Congress and throttle them for approving this $95 billion dollar war supplemental bill. The American people elected a Democratic majority to end this damn war and through their cowardice, they elected to extend it.
In my previous article, I pointed to an article that appeared in the UK Guardian in which congress voted on a $646 billion defense bill on May 17, 2007. Contained within that article, they reported that this defense bill contains, “an additional $142 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.” So, to our esteemed politicians; what is this $95 billion extra dollars for? If you add both figures that comes out to a whopping $237 billion dollars. That figure far exceeds the original amount asked for by this president. Well you sure showed him; didn’t you?
You could have kept the troop withdrawal language within that bill to finally bring our troops home from a war that President Bush stated on Thursday will get bloodier. If that above $142 billion dollar figure was for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, he would have had money to fund the troops. Care to shed a light for all of us what that money is allocated for? In this alleged era of transparency, you owe the American people more importantly our troops an answer.
