Uphold the rule of law and do away with 'Sanctuary Cities'

As millions of Americans wind down their summer vacations, I can think of three college students who will never see another vacation with their families since they were murdered execution style by a known criminal who is an illegal alien.  These fine young men were, Deshon Harvey, 20, Terrance "T.J." Aeriel, 18, and Iofemi Hightower, 20 who will never live out the promise they were seeking as their lives were ended so brutally. Yet the criminal who gunned them down namely Jose Carranza was afforded sanctuary in the city of Newark, New Jersey.

Carranza was free on bail for assault and child rape at the time he allegedly committed the murders.  So, while he was afforded sanctuary the child he raped was not afforded it.  In this day of Megan’s Law which by the way, really is not an effective tool in dealing with child rapists, I cannot fathom him even making bail seeing the heinous nature of his crime and his illegal status.  Yet, our run-away-freight train called the United States government and the government of Newark, NJ will protect him instead of a child and three men who all lost something.  The child lost the innocence of childhood and three men lost their lives.

On one political list I take part in the subject of immigration is now verboten by the list’s owner.  In a post to all list members, this is what was posted, “I can no longer tolerate nor permit this discussion of this subject on this forum.  It has done nothing but obscure the real issues at hand and has been the cause of too much grief to members and has taken far too much space here; I can no longer in conscience permit this to continue.” How I do see the case concerning these young college men being gunned down in the prime of their lives are indeed real issues.  When the list owner speaks of grief to list members, I would like for this person to sell that line to those family members left behind as they grieve.

The list owner then goes onto write, “the subject of immigration, illegal immigrants, etc.--is now not allowed unless it can be tied specifically to the Democratic Party or progressive politics.” First of all, this monster Carranza was not an immigrant but an illegal alien who knowingly broke our laws and committed the most heinous ones on our books.

Okay, now I will tie this piece into the Democratic Party and progressive politics as I refer to a past piece concerning Democratic presidential candidate, Barack Obama. In that piece he told the mayor of Hazleton, Pennsylvania who wanted to uphold local laws as it deals with these illegals that “comprehensive reform is needed so local communities do not continue to take matters into their own hands.Perhaps if Newark, New Jersey was not declared a ‘Sanctuary City’ these three young men would be alive today.  How come Senator Obama cares more for these illegals than he does for everyday working Americans?

According to ‘Lou Dobbs Tonight’, “Newark's sanctuary policies protect illegal aliens, even those charged with commission of crimes. Now, one City Councilman is pushing to change the sanctuary policy.” Newark, NJ can certainly use a mayor like the Hazleton mayor, Lou Barletta.

Also reported on ‘Lou Dobbs Tonight’, City Councilman Ronald Rice wants to end the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy when it comes to the handling of these illegal aliens.  He has even “introduced legislation to require the city to work with federal immigration authorities.” What a fabulous idea.

In the previous immigration bills that went down in defeat, one provision contained within them was that gang members could renounce their memberships in order to gain amnesty and be allowed to stay in this country legally.  Considering the crimes committed by Carranza, can we really afford that as a nation?  Most certainly not!

Not to target Obama solely, senators Clinton, Dodd, Biden, Brownback all voted in favor of these bills leaving our citizens unprotected from monsters such as Carranza. Hey we even have two border agents namely Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean presently serving eleven to twelve year sentences respectfully for shooting a known illegal alien drug terrorist in the buttocks; yet where are these senators voices demanding that these border agents be released from prison?  Ramos and Compean are in segregation to protect them from attacks by inmates.

When Senator Hillary Clinton entered the presidential race as a Democratic candidate she said in a report filed by CNN’s John Roberts, "So let's talk. Let's chat, let's start a dialogue about your ideas and mine, because the conversation in Washington has been just a little one-sided lately, don't you think?" I wonder what the families of those students who were gunned down would like to say to Senator Clinton since she voted in favor of amnesty.  What the American people told to our senatorial leaders as these immigration bills were being debated was no and that the rule of law should be upheld and this government do something concerning this pervasive problem.  Yet, senators like Clinton and Obama can pander to groups like La Raza?  Whose side are they on?

It was reported in this piece, “Linda L. Silva, a Democratic organizer and advocate for Latinos in Concord County, Pa., stood with hundreds of others to applaud Clinton, particularly when the senator called for policy changes that would allow undocumented immigrant students to receive college aid.” This college aid is also known as the ‘Dream Act’.  The statement above was made as Clinton attended the Miami meeting of La Raza. Please remember those three Americans cut down in a hail of bullets by an illegal alien and one with a record.

While she has called for border and port security, it is a little late for when the lives of Deshon Harvey, 20, Terrance "T.J." Aeriel, 18, and Iofemi Hightower, 20 were snuffed out.

To those Democrats who find this issue offensive and forbid it being discussed on one particular list, I would suspect that many find it offensive that these three young men lost their lives including your’s truly.

What Americans are clamoring for in regards to this one particular crisis is that the rule of law be abided by.  If the rule of law is ignored, anarchy will surely come. We must do away with these ‘Sanctuary Cities’ and restore the rule of law and let mayors like, Lou Barletta do the job he was elected to do.
