Ghosts of Abu Ghraib

Reading and watching the outrages committed by our country (with the Hillary Clintons and Joe Bidens along for the ride) in the war against Iraq and Islam generally, I took solace in feeling, quite often, "Well, exposure of this latest outrage will finally get the bastards," turning the political tide against the despicable lot (that is Bush, Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld, et al).

Surfing cable this morning I came across Rory Kennedy's documentary "Ghosts of Abu Ghraib" on HBO.

I had read something about it on Buzzflash so I kept it on, hoping it might add something to the repulsive torture show for which most of the rest of the world has held the Bush administration accountable.

It did add something. Outside of "One Day in September," Ghosts of Abu Ghraib is the most searing indictment of a political obscenity that I have viewed on film.

Please watch it, and be pissed off, and raise some creative hell.

Better yet, record it, and contact two fundamentalist churches in your area and offer a free viewing. I doubt HBO will raise a fuss about attempting to awaken at least one American from his consumer-induced, apolitical slumber.

And we might just find some new allies against these bastards.
