The unabated fighting in Lebanon has created great terror in the mind of the people as they have been expecting that a dangerous war will engulf the whole world in the very near future if immediate steps are not taken for a ceasefire. There is no ray of hope in sight at the movement as the world leaders have been watching the situation silently and helplessly without taking steps for stopping the fighting. According to the people of tribal areas situated on the Pak-Afghan border, the United States the sole super power on this Planet should play a role to save this world from destruction and catastrophe otherwise the future generation will not forgive it. One thing should be kept in mind that no one can win the war. The war always bring destruction and miseries either it may be in the Lebanon, tribal areas or United States.

In a statement, a leader of woman organisation Aurat Foundation, Pakistan Rukhshanda Naz said: "We the member of Sangat (South Asian Network of Feminist, Activists and Trainers) from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, meeting in Colombo, Sri Lanka, condemn in the strongest possible terms Israel's unwarranted aggression on Lebanon, which has led to large-scale bloodshed, the displacement of thousands of civilians from their homes and the willful destruction of the country's infrastructure, including airports, bridges, power plants and transmission towers. Israeli forces have systematically prevented the opening of a humanitarian corridor to deliver aid and assistance to the Lebanese.

"We are appalled by Israel's violation of international laws as it pursues its destructive Zionist agenda. We denounce the efforts of the United States in justifying Israel's murderous actions and in actively resisting international calls for an immediate ceasefire. We denounce the UN Security Council's inability to take meaningful action in the face of Israel's relentless aerial assaults on the civilian population and the humanitarian crisis that is escalating in Lebanon by the day. We are deeply concerned about the long term and far reaching consequences of this war on the stability of the region.

"We denounce the international community including the members states of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC), for their silence indifference and complicity in this war.

"As South Asian feminists, we are also deeply concerned about the safe of migrant workers from our region who have been stranded with no recourse to returning to safety. We strongly feel that it is the responsibility of all our states to ensure the safety and retrieval of their citizens. We call on the Secretary General of UN to summon a special session of the General Assembly in order to resolve the situation by demanding as immediate, unilateral and unconditioned withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.

"We demand from our states, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, to raise their voices against Israeli brutality and make their full efforts to restore peace in Lebanon."

According to a newspaper comments, the situation in Lebanon is worsening with every passing day. Israel's air strikes have already caused unprecedented death and destruction in the war-torn country. People are running for safety from the Israeli war-planes' bombs and missiles. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan says that Lebanon is left with petrol supplies just for three more days.

With buildings turned to rubble, shortage of foodstuffs, medicines and other essential supplies and petrol left for only three days, the scenario is simply pathetic. Lebanese people are dying, but there is none to focus their misery at the international fora. They are rather suffering in silence as even the permanent members of the UN Security Council are also silently watching the moving spectacle of death and destruction. The UN Security Council has deplorably failed to effect cease-fire in Lebanon. The UNSC members are rather watching the developments with no hope of early end to the hostilities.

The US is fully backing Israel in its aggression against Lebanon. Lebanon's neighbouring countries are also feeling the heat of the war that has now entered the fourth week. Syria is particularly under tremendous pressure due to the influx of refugees from Lebanon as well as Israel's provocative bombardment just close to its borders.

Analysts feel that Syria is being dragged into the conflict by Israel to widen the war theatre. It's hoped that the young and dynamic leadership of Syria will not sway emotionally and take a pragmatic view of the situation in Syria's supreme national interests.

The US and Israel must, however, be mindful of the fact that the situation may escalate and veer out into World War-III, which will simply bring catastrophe on earth.

The Voice For Peace has appealed to the world leaders to take urgent steps for bringing peace to the world. "Instead of wasting resources on mad war we should concentrate on bettering the condition of poor lot of this world.
