The Moment of Clarity

Every recovering addict and alcoholic can tell you of their "moment of clarity" - the exact point in time that the realization of their addiction hit them. This often becomes the defining moment in their lives.

George W. Bush has never had the moment of clarity. His addictions of the past have become an addiction to the power that his position provides. The power releases endorphins, adrenaline, and such a overwhelming euphoria that the cocaine he snorted in the past cannot compare to the feelings he has now. That is why both he and Cheney with their twisted smiles keep smiling.

The deaths of 4000+ Americans doesn't bother them. The death of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis doesn't bother them. The decimation of our economy doesn't bother them. They are immune to suffering in their world of pleasure and power. What they are doing causes them no pain. On the contrary, it gives them great pleasure and that is why they are smirking.

And so it came to pass that the smirk was on the face of GW when he came to speak about the defining moment that was happening in Iraq.
It was the "defining moment" that our Addict in Chief spoke about that made me start thinking: Why is Maliki attacking Sadr now? What was so important about now, just when the truces were declining the violence that ravaged his country. Why now, when real progress was being made in isolating Al Qaeda?

And then, the political junkie that I am had a "moment of clarity". No, not about being a political junkie, but about why now.

The epiphany was about what the Addicts and their cronies are planning. We all know that they have been trying to bait IRAN into an irrational act as an excuse for starting a War against them. The Addicts' greatest desire is to increase their pleasure and a War with Iran will provide the next higher buzz they need.

But their number one plan, invading on the pretext of going after the Iran's "Nuclear Weapons" production facilities, was shelved when our own intelligence forces revealed that Iran didn't have a nuclear weapons program. Sanctions didn't cause them to act irrationally. Kidnapping their diplomats in Iraq didn't cause them to act irrationally.

Thusly, the Addicts' new plan. Get them to act rationally. Force them to come to the aid of Sadr. Surely the conservative Clerics running Iran will come to the aid of a fellow conservative Cleric and we will have our justification for the war. Yes, the smoking gun, Iran has been helping the insurgents and killing Americans and now they are doing it out in the open and Smiles have real proof.

They can now war openly against Iran. They can see their dream of the great Imperial "Empire" (just ask Mr. Ritter about the Empire.) of the United States coming closer and they are smirking. It feels oh so good!
