The rivalry between Gorden Brown,the new Brit PM and Blair looks set to continue.
Blair is the new ME peace envoy.
Yeah... the joke works here as well.
Those who thought that the rumours of his death were exaggerated were spot on.
The history between the two is famously referred to here in terms of GRANITA.
This is the restaurant that they met in .. in 93 I think ...to decide who would take over ..the lightweight but star quality Tony ..or the intellectual but lugubrious Gordon Brown.
We know what happened but the deal was changed by Blair if you believe the gossip.
Blair was going to resign to let Brown take over but just couldnt. Brown had to serve as Chancellor ..the no. 2 post in Britain.. for ten years.
Blair had to be unwelded from the post. His unpopularity here forced him out...but hes back ...carrot in hand.

Brown has set up a young team round him who will be keen to distance themselves from Blair.
The Brits are not losing anything like the numbers the US loses but its still gruelling.
2 Black Watch kids from FIFE ..which is Browns home base ..were killed last week.
I believe Brown must change tack and will again clash with Blair who * will not talk to Hammas * and is even more hated in IRAQ.
People are calling Blair * Charlemaine * and are wondering why he would put himself through this. He has aged dreadfully and looks like the guy after the fight.
He is a multi millionaire. He could do a Clinton ( speech circuit not...you know..)
But no..hes off again....grinning and enthusing in equal measure.
Thats certainly not all folks!
