I want to believe that this election is important. But as far as the Democrats go, they have thus far polled the exact opposite of being the most qualified. I mean, considering Hillary Clinton started out as the national frontrunner in polls, (yes, I know polls are mostly B.S., and national polls are always a popularity contest) that should have been a wake-up call to the Democrats.
Joe Biden was the most qualified in our field to be president. Chris Dodd, he was qualified. So was Richardson. Their problem was they were ugly and talked about issues. They had no non-issues. So the media ignored their messages.
Can you imagine the media pouncing on Richardson’s Hispanic background the way they’ve jumped on Obama’s African background? Of course not. Richardson was an ambassador and actually accomplished things during his time in the Clinton administration and as New Mexico’s governor.
And just imagine Joe Biden hadn’t made those racial gaffs, which were spun by the media to paint him as out of touch. No one ever would have heard of Joe Biden.
Dodd – well, Dodd was talking about unimportant things like education and getting our youngest generation to compete in things like a world economy. Mr. Dodd, please exit stage left.
Okay, but that’s all yesterday’s news. Those losers are gone. We’ve got more important things to worry about, like Hillary…commending Lyndon Johnson for passing the Civil Rights Act, which somehow makes her look racist (?).
Okay, but that aside, we’ve also got Brian Williams talking to Obama about…racist emails that attempt to portray the Illinois Senator as a Muslim who wants to take over America for Al Qaeda from the inside (that no rational, thinking person would ever believe unless they had lived in captivity for the last decade, being force-fed (think Se7en)).
And Edwards, well he’s sort of making some sense, but has campaigned on a completely opposing platform than he ran on in 2004. So, there’s that. He also has no chance and is actually holding Obama down in the polls just by staying in the race he has no chance of winning. There’s that, too.
Why does this have to be about race? Can’t we just get over ourselves and just listen to the issues? Maybe if we had listened to the issues in 2000, and 2004, (and every election, dating back to 1976) we wouldn’t have gotten into this horrible war, with many, many more proxy wars against a word to come should Hillary or any Republican get elected. And yes, I’ve become pretty pessimistic. Hillary or a Republican (or are they the same thing?) are most-likely going to win. If she has to cry her way into the White House, she’ll do it.
The fact is, the Biden plan is the only thing that is going to finish off Iraq. (Please, 9/11 Truthers, don’t spam me with conspiracies about the Illuminati and Alex Jones.) But no one knows what the Biden plan is because The New York Times and other intellectual news’ readership is down (not enough Britney) and Joe Biden is an old, ugly (no offense, Joe) man. Hillary has blonde hair. Edwards has a great smile. Obama is young. Who cares what they think?
I give Ron Paul a lot of credit for making his campaign solely about issues (even if some of his supporters go to his rallies for the partying). They’re just all the wrong issues. But even so, because of Ron Paul and his willingness to tell it the way he sees it, it’s going to be harder for another president to sodomize the constitution the way Bush has. The free world market is going to be under more scrutiny because of Ron Paul’s supporters putting videos on YouTube and all the time they have to picket.
If he runs as an independent, he’s going to get more votes than Ross Perot did in 1992. Still, though, he won’t win. But sans Obama on the Democratic ticket for president, he’s got my vote, even though I don’t want him to be president. And no, I’m not negating my whole thesis about issues. I think Obama is right on most issues, he just doesn’t have the platform to show them off because the media is more interested in non-issues, as it has always been. Edwards is right, too, but he’s about as likely to be president as Bush is to trust the Iran NIE report, since it didn’t support the conclusions he’s already made.
Obama doesn’t cower to lobbyists the way Hillary has, and I believe he’s going to stack his cabinet much the way Kennedy did (which worked, besides that whole pesky Vietnam War thing) – people with little or no allegiances, people who will get things done rather than insiders who have been friends with the Bushes since Prescott funded the Nazis.
Still though, if I have to listen to one more of these losers talk about race or drugs or gender or experience (all the Democrats have no experience), I’m going to change the channel. I swear. I’ll do it…right after the funny guy on the right and the funny guy on the left stop screaming at each other over…what are they talking about, again?
