Rioters, responding to the declaration of independence by Kosovo, broke into the US embassy and set it on fire.
Reports range from crowds of tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of protestors.
They are angry with the US, British, French, Germans-- all the western nations that have allowed the partitioning of Serbia.
After numerous wars-- in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo, this new development could upend the fragile stability that has existed recently.
Secretary of State Condi Rice is still in Africa, with Bwana Bush.
John McCain insists, "Dear, friends, I didn't do it, had nothing to do with it and I will continue to, with my experience, protect americans from this Serbian threat."
Hillary Clinton reportedly disputed McCain, claiming she has more experience, having been to 80 countries, many of them with US embassies.
Obama said he has hope that yes we can bomb the people in Belgrade if they harbor Osama.
Michelle Obama said that she this was the first time she was ultra, extremely, incredibly proud of the US, for not napalming the protesters who set fire to the embassy.
CNN and MSNBC used reporting from Al Jazeera to cover the event. (Not kidding about this part. )
