Demo-Cons!

As mid-term election looms, the old tricks are in full swing. The talking heads are everywhere; popping up on TV screens, radios, newspapers and even in my dreams. They all know exactly the solution to all our troubles.

Solution for Iraq is either immediate withdrawal followed by hiding our heads in the sand until all oil fields are on fire, or staying the course until we and the inhabitants of the land die together, I'm not sure if we should be hugging each other in death or insuring a respectable distance.

The answer for the economy is even simpler, the economy is wonderful because all the rich people got their fair share of tax incentives and the million plus homes are going like hot potato, or the economy is in full disaster and regular people can't make a living because irregular people in India, China and Mexico are stealing the bread and the butter.

The hard working Americans don't have to go through the trouble and suffering of finding an answer for themselves.

The answer is obvious and clear, we have to be red or blue, Conservatives or Democrats, strong on national security or weak, trickle down or build up. At a time like the one we live in, it never fails to surprise me that the two major parties can still get away with this logic.

As hard working, law abiding citizens of the United States do we have other choices?

Can it be half blue and half red?
Will this mean strong and stupid, or weak and smart?
Can it be any combination of the above?
Does English provide these concepts packaged in a way we are not able or capable of decoding?

I was deep in my thoughts when it hit me hard, why not Demo-Cons?
I had to turn my head in both directions; probably any passer-by would think I am crazy. Nobody was within mind reading distance from me, so I'm safe and I can continue.

Demo-Cons might not be my first choice for a name, but we all have to start some where.

If I am a Democrat,
I must feel strongly that our children regardless of their background and socioeconomics deserve a chance. A school that is capable of creating a healthy environment starting from hot nutritious meal, to an adult that cares to dream with all the kids about tomorrow, and work hard to influence today.
I would make higher education a right for every deserving individual regardless of financial status.
I would never accept that seniors will have to choose between a meal and a prescription drug.
That people who worked all their life will wake up one day to discover, unfunded retirement accounts, and social security benefits which keeps moving further as they grow older.
I would understand that supporting our own is a given, but common sense proves that regardless of how hard you try there will always be few that will deserve our help. If not because they are Americans like us, then at least for the sake of their children who will become a problem unless we become a solution.
I would invest in the future of my country by funding research institutions that can bring better tomorrow.

If I am a Democrat,
We might not have tomorrow because we will be brook today, or we will raise taxes and live in a welfare state, where entrepreneurship will be kept in beautifully designed, well lighted and highly inefficient museums paid for by my taxes http://www.democrats.org/agenda.html

But if I am a Conservative,
I must believe that god is the only source of power.
That Gay's right to have a family, and women's right to choose is not the way god planned for us.
I would encourage personal responsibility because as individuals we know what is best for our own, and if the best is no health insurance, very little education and a broken home then nobody to blame other than ourselves.
I would live up to the letter of the constitution, which clearly states the right of every American to bare arms.
At the mean time any interpretation of the constitution is a divergence from what our forefathers envisioned for us as the land of the free.
I would cut your taxes so you can enjoy the reward of your success, and when you succeed you will buy the big house, big car and put people to work for you. So people will build their own success.
I would invest in the future of my country by making it stronger, capable of defending itself from all dangers.
Our country has the right formula for success and unless our enemies convert to our ways, they will represent endless danger.

If I am a Conservative,
We might not have tomorrow because my illiterate country men the ones that failed to compete are losing their jobs to people all over the world. Crime rates are going through the roof, while the population of prisons are sky rocketing.
Old people will continue bagging grocery until they die so they can afford their prescriptions.
Worst of all, these people living in caves across the ocean have no respect for human life and they are determined to attack us, destroy our way of life, because they hate freedom. http://www.gop.com/
The old say "if you keep doing the same things don't expect a different result" is surprisingly true.
So as the one and only Demo-Cons in America, I declare my candidacy to the highest office in the land. If you think I'm dump or crazy believe me I might not be the first.
My plan for you fellow Americans is simple. While our leaders continue investing our tax money in space war programs and large Nuke piles, our enemy uses IDEs, sneakers and cheap Gel to attack us.
The US military budget request for fiscal 2007 is 462.7 billion a 6.7% increase from the previous year, http://www.armscontrolcenter.org/archives/002238.php. This number doesn't include 170 billion to support operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The US military spending is two-fifths of all military spending worldwide, and 700% greater than our second largest spender (China). http://www.globalissues.org/geopolitics/armstrade/spending.asp#incontextusmilitaryspendingversusrestoftheworld
On the other hand proposed budget for 2007 includes 54.4 billion for education which represents 3.8% cut from 2006 budget, while health and human services suffered 2.3% cut for a total of 67.6 billion (see page 37 of the attached White House report) http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/fy2007/pdf/07msr.pdf

Dear fellow Americans,
My two point plan for your survival consists of:
1-Cut military spending by 50%, our spending after cuts will represent 350% more than our next biggest spender China. The 231.4 billion leftover will allow for the research and development of sophisticated sneakers, IDEs and simple guns to insure our supremacy against the new enemies.

2-Use the additional funds 231.3 billion on education, health services and creating a world where we don't have to use the stick to make the rest of the world fall in love with us.

Will you vote for me?

I am an Egyptian American born in Alexandria. I immigrated to the US in the late eighties, during this time lived in many places in US and Europe. I work as an IT manager and love it. I love to travel, it makes me feel young, and it awakes in me (more...)
