In CondiÂ's speech, she did as much as possible to exaggerate the threat of Iranian nuclear weapons, particularly with regards to speed of development. She said:
Â"The pursuit by the Iranian regime of nuclear weapons represents a direct threat to the entire international community, including to the United States and to the Persian Gulf regionÂ" The pursuit by the Iranian regime of nuclear weapons represents a direct threat to the entire international community, including to the United States and to the Persian Gulf region.Â"
The rest of the long winded diatribe said more of the same along with veiled threats that the US would protect its interests but is Â"committed to a diplomatic solutionÂ". As Yogi Berra would say, Â"ItÂ's dà ©jà vu all over againÂ". Because the Bush Administration was wrong on Iraq and the UN Weapons inspectors were right, I am focused on what they have to say regarding a potential threat. Once again, they say that the Bush Administration is exaggerating the threat. As Reported by Reuters via the Indian (Chandigarh) Tribune website among others http://www.tribuneindia.com/2006/20060601/world.htm#1 ElBaradei said Â"Iran does not pose an immediate nuclear threat and the world must act cautiously to avoid repeating mistakes made with Iraq and North Korea.Â"
