By their Fruits, Ye Shall Know Them – Matthew 7:16
Should we call her Hillary ‘W’ Clinton? Or maybe Hillary “Karl Rove” Clinton? For the second time in two months, Senator Hillary Clinton has used scare tactics in a campaign ad. Back in March, Hillary came out with her infamous “3am call” ad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CFb_KCbI2w . When that ad came out, I wrote an article [1] that quoted Hillary’s husband, former President Bill Clinton who in 2004 said:
"One of Clinton's laws of politics are this. If one candidate is trying to scare you and one is trying to get you to think, if one candidate is appealing to your fears and the other one is appealing to your hopes, you better vote for the person who wants you to Think and Hope, that's the best."
Every Democrat will recognize those words as embodying the spirit of the Democratic party, “Think and Hope”. We leave Fear mongering, cynical appeals and regressivism to the Republicans, or at least I thought we did until Hillary came along.
Not satisfied with her initial appeal to the lowest common denominator, Hillary and her campaign hatched an ad today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUeGbr2yVL4 that featured Osama Bin Laden in a further effort to scare people into voting for her. Not only is this everything I thought we Democrats rejected, it is insulting. Is this how little she thinks of the people in Pennsylvania and the other nine states to come afterwards? Hillary thinks this kind of garbage will appeal to them?
After losing thirty states and with polls showing 60% of America find her to be “unfavorable” and 58% don’t trust her, how is it that she doesn’t get that this kind of stuff isn’t working for her? She talks about being ready on day one, this is day 300 of this campaign and her campaign is broke and she still doesn’t have it figured out. If she can’t figure this out, how is she going to figure out how to navigate the economy and foreign policy?
Going into tonight, I had it figured that Hillary would win Pennsylvania by about 54%-44%. I think the Bin Laden ad is going to backfire. The only question is, how many people are going to see it. With the influence of the ad, I am going to guess that Hillary still wins Pennsylvania, but now only 52%-46% but again, that depends on how many people see it and just how much it disgusts them. No one who runs ads like that should be in the Democratic Party and certainly not our nominee for President. I'm betting a lot of other people think the same way.
