Please help: As you know, this concerns free speech and due process of law for Americans. There still are ten days before Congress meets again, and how soon they vote for S. 1959 The Violent Radicalization/Homegrown Terrorism Act is only a matter of question. Probably sooner rather than later. Thanks to the swiftness of e-mails and the Internet, there is still hope.
1) To break through the media blackout:
a) Ask your local County Supervisor, City Council, or Mayor to make a public "NO" statement about the bill. And to promise to pass resolutions against the bill if it passes. Show them the e-mail with links I already sent you (anyone who wants this again, please ask). Show them the FBI documents I sent you, first (a picture is worth a thousand words and will convince them that "something's wrong").
b) That way, the local college newspapers and local media will do a report, as these officials make their statements. Hopefully the mainstream media would become jealous and want to scoop the story.
c) The mainstream media may be silent because of short-sighted beliefs that the proposed unconstitutional "law" targets "only" the Internet. Not so! Free speech and due process affect everybody, that's obvious. They just aren't thinking. Plus the fact that the proposed gov't commission will stomp our college campuses and "Study" (better known as "spy on") would-be "terrorists" such as our very vocal college students, is proof of the pudding that it's free speech in general which is being targeted, not only the Internet. Journalists are bound to be affected by the guilt-by-association loophole, ie by "facilitating" violently radicalized terrorist activity. Note: When studying thought patterns *leading to* such activity, the government can claim absolutely anything they want, including contrived hoaxes. So journalists can and will be targeted for "Facilitating" matters which probably never exist, being subject to at least the possiblity of being tried by government officials themselves acting as judge/prosecutor/juror of the "Guilty party". TO BREAK THE MEDIA BLACKOUT ON THIS BILL, IT WOULD BE KEY TO CONVINCE MAINSTREAM EDITORS OF THIS TRUTH. THEY THEMSELVES WILL BE VULNERABLE, AND THEY'VE GOT TO REALIZE IT. Write the HEAD editor of your local major newspaper and bingo! You've hopefully got it all sewn up.
2) To topple the bill: (after getting local officials involved)
a) Write letters to the (local and college newspaper) editor (because mainstream may black this out) stressing that lawmakers gain clout and backbone on the Congressional floor when they wave a ton of signatures. This will encourage the depressed masses, a key to spawning proactivity instead of listlessness. Yes ,our phone calls will be tallied and yes, our hand-written letters will count! The more the better. It's a numbers game: Please urge people to act with immediacy and not even think, considering all that is "on the line". Thanks!
b) Write one of your favorite grassroots organizations asking them to send out petitions (why haven't they? This is a betrayal. They'd better "get it" that if they want to have any constituency left, this of all bills is THE Most important one to gather signatures and stop). You can include a request for readers of your letters to the editor to write any particular entity such as Moveon.org, the ACLU, Center for Constitutional Rights, etc.
C) Please post this plan to the Internet: Blogs, anywhere you can think of.
