INCURIOUS GEORGE STUMBLES ONCE AGAIN

Over the last five years, the re-writing of history has become commonplace in America. Here are but a handful of incidents:

" Blaming Saddam Hussein for the twin towers attack

" Manufacturing a tale that the Iraqis had wmd's

" Saying we don't believe in torture while making its practice commonplace

" Rewriting the Jessica Lynch and Pat Tillman stories from the Middle East

" Suppressing our own scientific information regarding global warming

" Ignoring multiple national surveys on the use of snow machines in Yellowstone

I could fill a book with similar incidents, but have opted instead to re-write a bit of history myself. I am going to change the name of our sitting president. Not by much"just a different initial. I am going to re-name our president. His new name will be George D. Bush. Not much of a change. Possibly history will ignore it. The "D" is for DISASTER.

Essentially every thing this man has touched over the last year has been truthfully, a disaster. He has showcased a level of sheer incompetence unequaled in American presidential history. No folks, this isn't because he's a Republican. It's not because he isn't a Democrat. It's simpler than that. It's because he is who he is"and who he has always been. I will give the man this"he is consistent.

The Cheney shooting incident pales in comparison to the administration screw-ups that now happen on a seemingly daily basis. Hey---give Cheney some credit---he is the first Neo-con ever to actually shoot a man. Usually they shun any form of personal military service, and foist the job of killing onto the country's underclass. At least Cheney stepped up to the plate!

How about Condy Rice the other day, asking for $15 million to support LABOR UNIONS in Iran? Hell, the Bushies detest labor unions in America, and won't consider raising the disgracefully low minimum wage in our own country. One has to wonder how an administration of dunderheads can promote democracy in the Middle East, yet do everything in their power to stifle it in their own country.

The crème de la crème, however, has to be Incurious George's unawareness that his administration decided to hand over control of six major American seaports to a state-owned company in Dubai, one of the United Arab Emirates. The UAE nation state is the same outfit that provided two of the 9-11 terrorists, doesn't recognize Israel, laundered money for the 9-11 attackers, and allowed a Pakistani nuclear scientist to smuggle nuclear parts through their ports to Libya. Oh---it's also one of only three countries who recognize the Taliban as the legitimate rulers of Afghanistan.

On top of this, Bush wasn't even informed of this decision until February 16th, a full month after the deal was struck. Is this not eerily reminiscent of his pathetic performance regarding Hurricane Katrina, when he played around for a few days while New Orleans drowned?

This latest Bushian disaster has infuriated many of the old-time conservatives. You remember these guys---the pre-neo-con Republicans; the ones who believed in balanced budgets and limited federal spending?

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, Senate Majority leader Bill Frist, New York Congressman Peter King, Governor George Patacki, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich are but a few of the outraged Republicans. Florida Republican Congressman Mark Foley called Bush politically tone-deaf, saying, "Of all the bills to veto, if he lays down this gauntlet, he'll have 350 members of the House ready to accept that challenge."
