I listened to CNN describe Nancy Pelosi's First 100 Hour Agenda and I shook my head in disbelief. I couldn't remember when I have been so excited!!! Here I was, waiting for my wife in a Doctor's office and I wanted to cheer, to jump up and down with exuberance! Not. I couldn't hardly remember this "agenda" when I tried to tell my wife about it. That's the part I really can't believe. Here we are, six years into the dismantling of our Representative democracy and the total abridgement of our Constitution, and this woman wants to get an outside panel to look into the ethics of The House of Representatives.

What is going on here? Whose ethics are we supposedly investigating? The majority of the people I would like to see investigated have been defeated in this election, or thrown out of government for breaking a law or two. (Remember "The Hammer"?) So who are we investigating? How is this supposed to put Humpty Dumpty back together again? I know that we are better than the Republican's and we Democrats and Progressive's always take "The High Road", but that high road that everyone is talking about looks like the same road I watched this country take when we decided to "Pull out" of Vietnam. We ended up arguing about the shape of the negotiation table in Paris for two years, while my friends were taking metal into their bodies in Southeast Asia. I think that the high road is the long way around, and you seem to never get to where you're going. After all that this country went through, here we are, 30 years later, playing the same game. We obviously haven't learned a thing.

We still have people that have never known the abject horror of war, putting our young people in the gun sights of the enemy... while they play politics in Washington. It seems that governments are more concerned with losing face, than losing lives. This is the twenty first century and we haven't learned a thing for god's sake. I hate to sound like I'm beating a dead horse, but if I can put a sense of urgency into one politician in Washington, and if I can save one soldiers life, it's worth being called names. The Congress wants to investigate itself, wow. Have you ever heard of anything so self-absorbed than a government body that wants to investigate itself while everything this country stands for is falling apart around them? The time to investigate was before the elections. The person you really need to investigate is sitting in the Oval Office making a fool out of Congress and the rest of this nation.

So what is the requirement to be in congress? It has to be money. The reason I say this is because there are so many of you that are wealthy, but not too many of you that have any brains. I don't believe you have to be intelligent to get elected. I think that you have to tell everyone how much you believe in god, go to church, spread a lot of money around, make corporate friends, and never, ever take a firm position on anything. That seems to be the prescription for having a long political life in Washington. Talk about things that people can't argue with you about. Things like "We need education for our children", "We need to stop polluting", "We have to set an example for the world" and crap like that. Don't tell us how, just mouth the words. While you're at it why not say; "We have to get our American men and women home and out of Iraq before they are dead because of a lie that this president based this war on". It's not so hard to admit that most of this nation was hoodwinked by Bush and Co.

That's what I like about writing what I do. I get to "prove" I was right by -pulling up an old article. Don't ask me why, but I may not always be right, but I'm hardly ever wrong. Sometimes it's a curse. Look, we are going to leave Iraq anyway. You know it, I know it, The President knows it. It's a forgone conclusion. Why in god's name are we prolonging the agony? Why are we delaying the inevitable? Russia pulled out of Afghanistan, we can pull out of Iraq. They won't be any worse off then they are now. They may decide to stop fighting. They'll never stop as long as we're there. What seems to be the hold up? I know why Lieberman wants to stay there. I know I'll be called anti-Semitic but I call it like I see it. He's Jewish. He will use anything to keep us in the Middle East. I believe that his first loyalty is to the State of Israel. Not so much because he is Jewish, but because the State of Israel funded his Senate race when the Democrats in Connecticut disowned him.

McCain is a presidential want-to-be. He'll do or say anything to keep his name in the spotlight. I used to like him but I sincerely believe he is in the early stage of Alzheimer's Disease. I think he needs a check-up from the neck up. This delay tactic is not doing anybody any good. The news on TV tonight said we score badly against other nations when you compare the quality of education. The major automakers are going out of business. The rich get richer, we're losing our middle class, and the Earth is heating up and scientists give us ten years before it's unstoppable. We have more problems than Job. I think it's high time that Congressmen and Senators got off their collective butt's and went to work solving some of these problems instead of playing games while our young people collect lead, just to forget about them if they make it home. I've already been to this movie. I don't want to sit here watching a remake.
