I just read David Swanson’s article about John Conyers. Make no mistake, the Democrats in Congress, except for a small number, are no better than the Republicans. The American people have been lied to and misdirected for over two decades now. I was going to just pull away from all of this because I couldn’t stand the lies and faulty logic that has been fed to the American people. I couldn’t stand the infighting between the people that understand that our democracy is being flushed down the toilet with supersonic speed. How David Swanson could stay civil writing about Conyers is beyond me. The man is a classic piece of political crap. If anything should be flushed down the toilet it’s him.

It’s all about money. Money and power, the two are different sides of the same coin. There is no excuse for not putting Bush and Cheney in handcuffs and throwing them in a cell with the other criminals. I don’t care what history will say about this administration unless it says that they were arrested and tried for crimes against humanity.

They are responsible for at least a million deaths. They have spent every cent that they could get their hands on. He has gutted the most revered document on the face of the Earth, The Constitution of The United States of America. He has turned the Bill of Rights inside out. We have no sanctity of the home, we have no expectation of privacy, we are on a battleground that this President has invented with this axiomatic “War on Terror”. What is a “War on Terror”? To me the “War on Terror” is the terror I feel every time this President declares another “Presidential Executive Order” threatening to seize the assets of every person that stands in the way of his failed Iraq policy. His Emergency Powers declaration that makes him responsible for all three branches of the Federal government in the event of a “national emergency” that he still won’t define even though members of Congress have asked him too. He wrote back that they didn’t have the proper “clearance” to receive that information.

Besides all of this we have Posse Comitatus eliminated, Habeas Corpus eliminated, we torture, we kidnap people with unmarked jets and fly them to nations that will torture them. Everyone knows this and yet Congress does nothing! John Conyers should resign if he doesn’t have the intestinal fortitude to do what he promised to do. The same goes for Pelosi, and Reid and Kennedy and all the others that sit on Capitol Hill. The ones that argue with each other while the Attorney General, the nation’s chief law enforcement officer who is charged with maintaining law in the United States of America blatantly lies to Congress to everyone’s consternation and confusion. They have recommended that he “step down” for lying to Congress. Perhaps they should send the Marshals in and arrest him for contempt of Congress! This is not an Attorney General, this is the Executive Attorney. He works not for the people of the United State, but for the Executive branch only!

How long are Americans going to accept the type of behavior that we have seen from every politician in Washington? Where were the questions from American’s on the You Tube debates that asked when our rights were going to be given back to the American people? Do you imagine that Hillary Clinton or the others want those rights given back to us? Don’t you think Clinton is salivating for those Unitary Executive Powers?

The point of this entire article is that we can no longer trust the entire political system that is in place in Washington. There are only three politicians that are talking the truth and all three are constantly being muzzled. They are Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul and Mike Gravel. We can’t let this go on! There is a reason that we are where we are, The reason is money, as I explained earlier. I have a first hand knowledge of how the process works.

When I started the Liberal Party of America, it was because at the time I started it, “Liberal” was a non-word in both parties. The right had destroyed the word and made it represent every weak kneed Democrat in the country (in their opinion). Nobody fought back, they just let them run with it. At the time, “The Contract with America” was just winding down and everyone (Democrat and Republican) were trying to show the country just how tough on drugs and how pro law and order they were after Clinton’s impeachment by the House. There were no “Liberals” in Washington, everyone was middle-of-the-road or conservative. I was horrified. I thought that the country was going in the wrong direction. I started the Liberal Party of America. At first we had some ardent supporters from both parties (yes both parties, there are liberal Republicans). The people wanted to start a web site. We did. We had a platform, in fact we were pretty middle of the road politically. We were what the Democrats once were.

When we wanted to register our new, young party, we found out that it was practically impossible. We needed money, and lots of it. I investigated on my own how all of these politicians got themselves funded and I found ‘Open Secrets” on the web (The Center for Responsive Politics). I found out that only about 30% (on average) of political contributions’ come from ordinary people, the rest comes from PAC’s and corporate sources. This blew my mind. I then realized that the only thing that politicians needed us for was to pull the lever on Election Day. After the elections in Florida, when the Republicans pulled in all their markers and unabashedly rigged the election that gave us George W. Bush (I lived in Broward County at the time, everyone HATED Bush), they didn’t even need us anymore. Now it was ALL about money.

Am I making any sense here? Do you see what I’m talking about? This has been a long slippery slope to where we are now. Unless we get up off our couches, get our hands off of our ears and start to listen to each other instead of arguing where it started or who is responsible, we are not going to get anywhere. Right now there are not a lot of good politicians out there, and they are certainly not leaders. We must find our own leaders and put these worn-out, money hungry, power crazed politicians on retirement, or in jail. Unless you want to live in a Police State with a democratic veneer, we need to start to get along on the progressive side. Hillary is no Progressive. She should be ashamed for saying that. She is a business as usual politician. Maybe once she was a progressive, she may become one again, but not now.

So this is why I took a break. I have read my words taken apart on the web and I have seen quotes attributed to me that I never said. I got tired of the whole thing. The thing that most disgusted me was that the liberal left was fighting with the liberal left. We need to keep our eyes on what’s important here, What is important here is putting our Human rights and our Constitution back together again. We need to rescind this vile Patriot Act, the MCA 2006, The Insurrection Act, All of Bush’s presidential decrees and Executive Orders and signing statements. We need a thorough review of all the terrorism laws that have been put into effect. We should start to think if an Article V Constitutional Convention is called for. This would temporarily add a fourth branch of government that we sorely need right now. We should be talking about these things and exposing the lies and deceit of both parties. This is our responsibility as citizens, even if the politicians say it’s not.
