Hooks. Lines and Sinkers
by Michael Arvey
Let me see if I understand this correctly. The Bush
administration, on the basis of cooked and stretched intelligence,
claimed that Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9-11 (it is this
writer's belief that the administration had much to do with 9-11), had
the most terrible weapons of mass destruction ever devised in the
history of the world (a distinction, I thought, which belonged to the
U.S.) and was an imminent threat. Moreover, the Hitler of our
times, Saddam Hussein, should not be appeased, otherwise he would be
coming to kill us sooner or later. Freedom and democracy must be forced
onto Iraq to avert any future danger, and should by any means
necessary, prevail.
U.S. invades Iraq. U.S. bombs. U.S. strafes.
U.S. shocks and awe's. U.S. rumbles in on tanks. U.S. slices
and dices Iraqis. U.S vaporizes Iraqis. U.S explodes Iraqis. U.S.
maims Iraqis. U.S. kills thousands of Iraqi citizens. U.S. nukes Iraqis
with depleted uranium. U.S. encloses Iraqi villages with razor wire.
U.S. privatizes Iraq. U.S. sweeps up citizen "suspects" on a
whim and imprisons them. U.S. hoods Iraqis and electrocutes their
genitals. U.S. humiliates Iraqis. U.S. tortures Iraqis. U.S. beats,
rapes and murders Iraqis. U.S. president babbles forth each day his
tedious and repetitive one-liners such as, the "enemies
of freedom," "terrar," ad nauseum.
Iraqis retaliate. Kill Americans. Any Americans,
any coalition partners. Kill mercenaries and U.S-trained terrorists.
Iraqis, hiding under hoods, presumably behead American citizen. America
afraid. Those terrible people.
Iraqis are supposed to lie down and let the U.S.
roll over and crush them beneath fascistic wheels; supposed to turn
the other cheek; supposed to welcome their masters. Don't they know
we bring them the sweetness of freedom and democracy? Don' they know
what's good for them? Don't they know what's good for them if they don't
cooperate? Don't they know we are good and they are evil? Don't
they?
I'm afraid that much of what's going on in Iraq
right now wafts with a stench of having been engineered
behind the scenes, much like 9-11 still does.
Photographed tortures and now a beheading? Smells
like a tanker full of rotten squid.
